That is so cool Dani. I absolutely loved it and Oscar sat here and loved it too. I wish Oscar would get jealous and talk when I ask him to. Oh well.... guess I can't have everything.

Congrats Sharyn and Mr P. Two years goes by really fast and for me and Oscar tomorrow it will be 5 years that we brought him home. I can't believe it has already been that long but I write it on my calendar so I don't loose track so I guess it must be true.
Your profile picture reminds me of how Oscar acts when I pick him up from the sitters. Soooooo cute.

Absolutely the sound would do it as well. Oscar knows if any vehicle is in the driveway way before I do and he doesn't hesitate to tell me about it.

Well.... that sure is some heavy conversation and gives us all a lot to think about. I guess I am the odd one out because so far, I have never felt guilty one bit in having Oscar as a pet. I knew he was born in a house and was raised by humans and is a very happy entertained little boy. He never has to fight for his food or for attention... he has a permanent girl friend... me.... and he will probably live a lot longer with me than in the wild. He would never survive in the wild.... so why would I have any guilt feelings.
I understand what you all of you are saying... and yes... I can understand your feelings... I cannot stand going places where I know the animals and birds are not being treated with the highest respect that they deserve. I refuse to go to these places... my heart is too weak for abuse.
Our QP's are having the most wonderful time of their lives. They are safe, fed, cleaned, talked to, played with, we are their slaves... what better life can they have?

Wow... those are awesome. Boy I would love to have an outdoor aviary. Thanks for sharing these photos. Are these aprox. the same size as Quakers? Do they talk? Can you handle them? Just beautiful.

I am going to say the opposite and say that Yoshi wanted to dance. (just kidding but it looked so cute). I do agree with the comments above and that does sound to me like Oscar's danger call as well... except Oscar is much louder.
Oscar loves to flap his wings but he never makes noise while doing it. It is his exercise time which is usually before bed. I also have Oscar trained to flap his wings when I hold him up in the air and I wave my other hand.... he thinks it is fun but he never leaves my finger.

Sounds like you are doing fine. Like Bitebird mentioned earlier.... I'm thinking you could start a new appropriately-named thread under Quaker Parrot Behavior - that way people will be more likely to see it and respond than if you keep this query in your introduction thread.
This will help instead of having 4 pages under one thread... you can make different ones under different subjects and all people on the thread would benefit from reading them.
We are very happy that you love your little one... as much as we love ours.

Awwww that is wonderful Angela. This little guys can be so very affectionate and purr like a kitten. Other days ... well... you will see... lol. My QP loves to crawl under my shirt and look for any little imperfection in my skin and be sure to remove it... lol.
I do not allow my QP to sleep on me because I always seem to be disturbing him and getting up to do something. Welcome to the forum and as time goes on... I am sure you will have questions... and they are very welcome here.
Good luck.

Bruce... Oscar builds these houses all the time. I do not discourage it... although many on here would think it is a good thing to do that.... but he loves to build and it keeps him occupied... and he has not become anymore or less aggressive with us... so I let him continue. You must look at the pictures I posted... under... How many houses does a QP need? Also my picture on the left shows you one of his houses (I think number 4) and this one has a huge hanging basket in the front... and three rooms in the back. Other than me helping with the basic floor structure he did this himself with 5,000 plastic tie wraps. When people see this... they are totally shocked.

It is a normal thing for sure. My QP wants to be with me constantly and he is. I am his slave because I have a big heart and I cannot bear to see him begging for attention and not getting it. We have our schedule of him playing on his own... and then playing with me... and then the evening is when he will not leave me alone until after supper. I love the attention .... and so does he... so fortunately this is not a problem for me.
These birds will learn schedules as long as you stick to it. When you have the same time most days... to play with him... he will learn this and look forward to it.
My QP does not play with his toys and I have a full box to prove it. Why play with toys when you have a human being??? lol
I occupy my QP by letting him explore everything from the kitchen counter... to the cupboards.. to the pots and pans... anything that is new to him is fun for him.
Hope this helps.

I am different in that I do take Oscar outside with me... when he is clipped. I know the risks and trust me... he is with me constantly. We just go outside and he sits on my shoulder or arm while I sit at the table. His outside cage is always close by. If I have to leave for any reason he is put into the cage until I return. I know others may say I am pushing my luck and maybe I am... but man...he loves it sooooo much and so do I.
He walks around the table checking everything out... walks in the grass and chews some of it... comes to the garden with me and helps himself to peas .... and loves to go in the gravel driveway to play with the stones.
There are many risks by them going outside .... and not being in a cage. I am not recommending this to anyone.... just for me.

It sure is an attention thing Zim and if he doesn't get it all.... then I get a bite. Even when hubby talks to me... Oscar will scream... or lordy help me if hubby wants a hug..... ha ha ha... Oscar wants ALL my attention all the time. (But I still take the hugs and he can scream all he wants).

Easttex has given you the best advice. Good to know you didn't do an impulse purchase.
