The normal x-rays and blood work mean that there's no heavy metal toxicity, which was her first thought.
She thinks he has some sort of virus, and the other birds aren't affected because they're completely different species. How he got it, who knows?

She thinks he has a virus, so is going to prescribe an antiviral medicine, deworm him with Panacur, and give him a Vitamin B shot.
His x-rays are normal.
He is blind.

We're at the vet now... Pico is getting x-rays done. She says that whatever it is, it's very serious.  |

My vet isn't board certified, and this vet is. Dr. Bangert says that all they (specialists) see is birds, so she may have seen Pico's symptoms/condition before.
My vet is an avian vet, she's had education in avian medicine, but isn't board certified and she also sees dogs and cats.

It's SO funny....I spent much of my childhood in the car, going back and forth from the Bellingham area to Seattle to see various specialists....I never imagined that as an adult I'd be doing the same thing for one of my birds!  |

Wednesday at noon we'll be making the 2 1/2 hour drive to see the specialist. Fingers crossed.....

My dear, sweet, wonderful vet didn't charge for the appointment today because she wants Pico to see a specialist. She gave me the names of several, and I'll be calling later this afternoon after Zach gets home from work.
She's completely stumped.

Yay! Pico didn't like his hidey hut because the opening was hard to get in and out of. So I cut the hole and he figured it out already, and is sleeping in it. I wondered why he didn't like it. |
