It is always a tense moment when there is a new update, but it has been great to hear such consistent good news lately about Peppy. Pico was definitely a sweetheart. And also very strong. He got dealt a rough hand. I'm very sorry, Dani *hugs*

He appears to be doing well, Dani. He's been loud and demanding, while still making time for the occasional snuggle. He seemed to start liking his cooked food again yesterday evening, and I thought I could get away without giving him the formula. He had different ideas, though, and would not settle down for the night until I gave him some. He's definitely gaining weight. Yesterday he was at 138 grams, even more than he was before getting sick, but some of that is the mass. He is building up breast muscle and his keel is feeling better. At the last visit, his vet said he's not totally out of the woods yet, but he's certainly on the right track. We'll see how things look by X-ray on his next visit in about three weeks.

That is great news Easttex. You will find that your relationship with Peppy will change - it will become very much stronger and you will value your time together. Since Shah has got better, our relationship has improved dramatically. We seem more in tune with each other and I love spending time with him.

Well, this is strange. When I weighed him yesterday morning, he was at 131g. I thought maybe I didn't zero it out properly, but the cloth I put on it is very light. I think 131 is closer to the truth. Maybe I'll take the scale with me for his next appointment to compare.

Very glad to hear that Peppy is doing so well! Strange about the scale though...

I find there is always a weight difference with various scales - especially my weight

This morning he was at 140...? It is a puzzle. I have a second scale, and the two are the same. I just don't know, but will put that on the shelf for now.

I had a scare this morning. Peppy seemed fine when I uncovered him, but when I went back to bring him out a bit later, he was on the bottom of his cage. He wouldn't let me near him, and he just looked a little out of it. After a while he snapped out of whatever it was and all seems back to normal. I can take nothing for granted with him.

That is scary! Sheesh... Glad he seems to be okay, but definitely unsettling. I wonder what's up with that...

Oh boy, I can just imagine how you felt when you saw him with your stomach hitting the floor That was an unusual incident. Just keep an eye on him. Hopefully, he is fully recovered now.

Peppy has some days that are better than others, but overall I think he's doing well. If I don't think he's eaten much during the day I give him more formula in the evening, and he loves that. One thing I have a hard time with is deciding if his belly is gaining fluid again. His next checkup and X-ray will be the 26th.
