The ultrasound showed that the mass has shrunk some. Very welcome news. Now the focus is on the edema, which hasn't changed. Two primary possibilities, according to the vet. A vascular problem or a protein deficiency. He is going on yet another med for vascular purposes, in case it is that. She wants to do a blood test for the protein determination and also to check for liver function, but was concerned about bleeding. So he's back on the vitamin K for a few days, and I will take him back Thursday or Friday for the blood work.
My never-all-that-meticulous housekeeping has gone to pot, the pantry is nearly bare with all the recent upheaval and travel, and Allie is feeling neglected, but I can't say enough about this vet hospital. They have oncologists, ophthalmologists, cardiologists, neurologists, internists, urgent care, etc., etc. And radiologists to read the ultrasounds and X-rays. All under one roof, and Peppy's vet just walks down the hall to consult with others. It's just a real step up from any vet care I've ever seen. Unfortunately, they don't do primary care.
Peppy still seems much improved over last week. I need to work on fattening him up.

That is good news. It has been a long road, hasn't it? The world wont stop turning if your housework isn't done. I really admire your courage and determination to help Peppy. It is wonderful that you have found this vet hospital - they sound so professional and it is very important that we have confidence in our vets.

That's really great news. As Jan points out, the house will survive (and so will Allie)... That facility sounds absolutely amazing. What is it called?

Given the circumstances, you have a legitimate reason for letting the housework go undone. Which is more than I can usually say when my apartment is messy. It sounds like whatever care Peppy needs he will get at that facility. Continuing to send him good wishes for a full recovery.

That facility sounds absolutely amazing. What is it called? It's the Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, I don't know how unique it is. Maybe it's a common thing in the larger cities, but I've never seen one. What they do does not come cheap. They are in the same Houston neighborhood as the Bentley dealership, if that tells you anything. Peppy sassed and chastised me but good yesterday, so I know he was feeling better. He still found time for cuddles, and continues to be amazingly good about taking his meds. I have houseguests coming soon, so will have to get to work on the place. It does seem like a long road, Jan, especially if I take it all the way back to his first saliva symptoms.

I checked out the website. It does look pretty amazing. I don't know how common this kind of place is... It seems like we must have something like that around here (near DC) but I am not aware of any specifically. It would probably be a good thing to know.
Really happy to hear that Peppy continues to feel better.

I am so glad to hear there has been a little progress. That hospital is amazing... geezzz they don't even have the best Doctor's for people here and I am jealous. Maybe in the future a vet will move to town... now that would be awesome.
Peppy sounds like a real little trooper... I believe he will come through this.

I told Shah this morning that I would find out about Peppy today. It is quite freaky as every time I mention Peppy's name, Shah stops what he is doing and stares at me until I finish talking. It really sounds like Peppy is well and truly on the mend. This is the best news I have had all week. Go Peppy

It's happened again! Shah was mucking around and yelling at me and as soon as I said Peppy's name he stopped what he was doing and looked right at me very intensely. When I had finished telling him about Peppy's progress, he went back to yelling at me. It is really spooky.

It's got to be either telepathy or more evidence of the Quaker Security Administration (QSA) and its ability to monitor international communications. I'll be sure to tell Peppy he has an empathetic friend in Australia, but I expect he already knows.

Quaker supernatural abilities are definitely a real phenomenon. Cupcake seems to know when people are about to come home... long before she could have any evidence of their presence in the building. And she often seems to know when we are thinking about her.

What news on Peppy?

He had blood taken yesterday, and the vet wanted to have it analyzed outside. Surprised me that there is anything they couldn't do inside that place, but she said they could get more refined results from another lab, and she wanted that in Peppy's case. I don't expect to know anything before next week. Just by feel, she thought his mass was about the same as Monday. The edema is changing, but I don't know if it is for the better. The skin seems to thickening and turning yellowish. He seems better. He took his first bath in a long time on Thursday. It's a little up and down, but for a lot of the trip to Houston and back he was rooting around in his food bowl, which he didn't do on previous trips. When I got back, we had unplanned company, so I didn't get to spend as much time with my birds as I would have liked, but he was chipper. He made some vocalizations I haven't heard in quite some time. I think he has learned what "home" means. On the last couple trips, when I turn into the driveway and announce where we are he gets excited. It touches my heart.

Hmmm... well at least he seems better. That's great. I'd love to know what's up with that edema, though. What a sweet and brave boy. Both of you are serious troopers
