Everyone has said the things I am feeling for you easttex. I pray for you and Peppy and even tell my friends the story of what can happen with our little loved ones. I truly hope this has the best ending ever. I can only imagine being in your position and having this stress day in and day out. Keep strong... dry those tears... and remember Peppy loves you and knows you are doing the best you can.

It pleases me more than I can say to report that Peppy is definitely looking better. Not great, but a big improvement over Tuesday. He's eating better, his poops are more normal, and I think his breathing is improved. He still has an enormous edema on his belly, and that is puzzling everyone. When I come in he wants to cuddle more than he wants to eat, so I think my presence is a mixed blessing, but we both seem to enjoy it. We allopreened today. I will spend time with him again in the morning and will see what the vet has to say then. I don't expect to be able to take him home yet, though.

Happy to hear that there are signs of improvement. I'm sure that the time you spend with Peppy is good for both of you, though it's not easy on either of you for him to have to stay at the vet's.

True to the pattern, Peppy was not as good in the morning yesterday, but seemed a little perkier in the evening. Assuming he didn't backslide last night, I'm going to try taking him home this morning. I can give him the meds. The only other thing he's getting here are hyperbaric oxygen treatments, and no one is sure that they're really doing him any good. They're not shrinking the edema, though they might be helping with the infection, which is the source of the granuloma. If so, he'll start looking worse at home, and I will bring him back. I know he'll be happier at home, and I just hope either the antibiotic or the antifungal will do the job.
He was getting the oxygen treatments along with a Hahns macaw. I'd never seen one in person before. What a cutie he was. I talked with his people and he sounded like a sweet bird.

He is, Jan, and he seems to be doing better. He was much more his sassy Quaker self last night, though still up for some serious snuggling. I have five meds to give him, and it isn't easy, since he learned to keep his beak shut tight, but we're managing so far. I take him back tomorrow for another ultrasound to see if the granuloma is shrinking. I think the edema might be a little smaller. So good to have him back in the house.

Glad that Peppy is home with you. Hope he makes good progress toward a full recovery. Hahn's Macaws are pretty captivating. I've told the story of a Hahn's that was in one of the pet stores here, along with an Umbrella Cockatoo. I was told that the U2 was a quick study, and would learn new words in a matter of minutes. So there I stood, repeating "good parrot" over and over, while the 'Too just stared at me. After about fifteen minutes, the little Hahn's Macaw in the next cage came down, looked me straight in the eye and said "good parrot!"

Back for his ultrasound today, where I hope to learn everything is improving. His appetite is better. It got to the point where the only thing he would even nibble at was scrambled egg, but he got all his regular stuff yesterday. He needs to put on some weight. The mass must have had me fooled. Strangely, he was quite cooperative for both the a.m. and p.m. meds yesterday. He doesn't want to cuddle for quite so long now, but I have to think that is a good sign.
When we were checking out of the hospital and they brought his carrier into the room, he got visibly excited. He can't have very pleasant associations with it, but somehow I think he figured out he was going home.

What an extreme hectic time you are having. I think of you both a lot and can only pray that things will go well. You sure are the best Mom ever.... Peppy said so.
