Really amazing vet hospital. Huge facility, and very state of the art. They see all kinds of pet animals, but they don't do primary care at all. By referral only.
Peppy had an X-ray and an ultrasound. He has a huge mass, practically filling his abdominal cavity. It is crowding everything. He showed almost no air in his lungs, and his organs have been pushed around by the mass. They think it originated in the reproductive tract, but are not sure. The vet has had some good results with lupron injections shrinking masses in the reproductive tract, so he got one. I hope it provides at least a little relief for him. If it doesn't, the next step is to aspirate the mass. It could be cancer, a cyst, fungal, or bacterial, and maybe some other things. That is scheduled for Monday. I don't know how I will handle the logistics, as if I can't get him in very early, he will have to stay overnight, but we'll figure it out. His liver problems increase the risk of bleeding, so he is getting vitamin K along with the milk thistle.
He was a little trooper. He was very cooperative with everyone and didn't bite. He was described as a "perfect gentleman". (A rival for Ralph?) The vet told me everyone fell in love with him. I was impressed with her. Throughout her exam, she didn't restrain him, and just sort of gently talked him through it.
I wish they had given me better news, but at least we know more. This may well have caused his saliva problems earlier this year.

Wow... it's great that you were able to take him to such a great facility. I'm sorry to hear about this mass, though. That sounds really uncomfortable for him, but at least there is hope! What a sweet little guy, behaving so nicely for them, and it's great to hear how well they treated him. You're doing great things for him, Easttex. Hang in there... You'll both continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

Thank God for these Doctors. I have a lot of faith that you have taken him to the right place and things will work out. It is amazing that something as major as this starts off by sneezes. I get so taken by illnesses in any animal.... I have tears for you both. If their is a Bird God... I ask to save this little one.

Sorry to hear about Peppy's diagnosis, but obviously he's gone to the right place to be treated. Ralph and I wish him all the best for a full and quick recovery. It's nice to know that there's more than one Gentleman Quaker around. I'm sure Ralph will be pleased to know he's in such good company.

They sound so professional. It is amazing what the xrays pick up - and then to have an ultrasound. You now know what you are dealing with. Good luck on Monday. Here's hoping that they can get rid of that mass without too much trouble. Hugs to you and Peppy.

Peppy is not doing too well this evening. The only things I've been able to get him to eat for several days are scrambled egg and formula. He's well enough to enjoy lots of scritches, and he will groom me a bit, but I know he has to be miserable. The sneezing is terrible. We'll be leaving in the wee hours of the morning, and I will be staying over and taking him home Tuesday. They probably won't have the results back from the lab before I leave, but I hope they can do something to make him a bit more comfortable. I'm just anxious. Hard to feel good about anything when your little sweet pea is ailing.
My brat of a grey has decided to mimic Peppy's sneezes. Gave me a scare for a while.

I am so sorry Easttex. Sending lots of hugs and prayers to you and Peppy. Try and keep your chin up (but I know it is almost impossible to do).

I'm so sorry Easttex. This sounds pretty miserable for both of you. Poor little Peppy. He's such a trooper and he's so lucky to have you. I've been checking this thread frequently as well. We are all rooting for you two.

It will probably be another day or so before the lab results are known, but he came through the procedure okay. I was concerned about his breathing. They told me they got him to eat some and poop some last night, so I should be able to take him home this morning. He'll be back on antibiotics. There may be more trips here for treatment. I'll gladly make them.
