Bonnie doesn't get scared of red, but she won't eat red foods. She's fine with orange and yellow (I think).

Hi Tim I'm from Newcastle. I thought I had already posted but can't see it. Sorry if it is a double up. I got my baby at the end of December. He was flown here from Melbourne. I got him from Hand Raised Parrots. I'll be interested to hear how your little fellow goes. My Pigeon (Pidge) is very demanding but fortunately I have the time for that. I am a bit worried about him over bonding but so far he loves all my visitors. He bites all the time because he doesn't know skin is tender so I have to be careful. So far I've had to replace all my silk light fittings because he bites holes in them and he's destroyed my keyboard. He is obsessed with stealing the keys. I'm missing some letters but mainly the question mark. It is hard keeping him below eye level because I am short and the cage is taller than me. I've put all his perches half way down and hope that helps. He is already King of the castle

Ha ha ha... pidgesmum... you should see all the clothes Oscar has destroyed. You will learn that when you are in the house your wear your Quaker clothes and then change when you go out. Oscar just loves to chew everything.
You can try to stop the biting by making sure everyone's hands are out of the bite zone. That is the area in front of the bird's beak in which the hand can easily be bitten but not easily stepped on. Always approach the bird from below rather than in front of the feet. If you present the hand in the bite zone, then pull it away ... this is good way to teach and reinforce biting. If the bird things something is running away, he will want to attack it. "If you run, I'll chase you!"
Never allow anyone to wave their fingers in the bird's face as nothing could be worse for a Quaker's disposition.
Hope this will help.
