julianna, yeah leaving him with the breeder for the minute to get fully weaned and trained up a little with human contact. I've got a list of names that I'm narrowing down slowly, so should make a decision soon hehe. Jan and shah, thank you and no worries! I reckon he looks a little bit cheeky too

Hi everyone! I've been doing my birdy research for a few months now, and put a deposit on a Quaker back in August. I got an email a week ago from the breeder with pics of the newly hatched babies, so now counting down until my new buddy can come home! I've bought some toys already, and stainless steel bowls to replace the plastic ones in the cage (still to purchase). The DNA certificates should be ready about the 9th of Dec, so I have at last till then to wait!!! i hope to read up more on Quakers until then, and hopefully decide on a name! cheers, Tim

Ok so it's 2:20am in Australia now, and I can't sleep! I went to bed early tonight, and woke up a little while ago to see a message from the breeder saying my bird is ready for pickup!!! Going to see if I can get time off work on Friday to go pick him up before the weekend. I didn't think I could get more xcited, clearly I was wrong hehehe

He is home!!!!! Took longer thank expected, an hour long trip turned into an hour and 45 minutes because the freeway was closed. He was sitting starting at me for about half an hour, then decided to have some lunch. He's still chomping away on pellets hehe. I reckon he'll be a Houdini though - I SWEAR he was trying to open the food sliding door!!!

Congrats! What a cute little guy... They can definitely be escape artists... Ours isn't, but it definitely happens. We still put clips on her food doors if we ever transport her in her cage outside to make sure she can't get them open

Thanks Aaron! What sort of clips do you use? Trying to find something suitable now.

Bonnie's sleeping cage has sliding food doors and we just put a clothes peg through the top of them. She hasn't been able to reach them or open the doors. Congratulations on his arrival home! In your first photo he looks blue, but in this most recent one he looks more green (?).

He's actually very Aquary coloured hehe. He's more blue than the photo just above - the aqua colour on his head is what he's really like. He's hard to photograph at the minute
