I agree with Aaron - it is better that you were there with him at the end. I am so sorry you feel such pain at his passing. Just take your time to grieve for him. We are here to help and support you. Big hugs being sent to you.

I agree with aaron, I believe Peppy had the best passing possible given what you now know. He would have been glad to be with you. I know it can't help much, but I hope it gives you a little comfort that it was nothing you did wrong. From what I know, you took incredible care of Peppy, were responsible, loving and attentive. He couldn't have asked for more, except a little more time to be with you. But that is neither yours nor Peppy's fault.
I know what you mean about non-bird people not getting it. I think animal people get it, but until they've had that kind of relationship with a non-human person, I think many other humans find it hard to empathise. Regardless, however, those around you should see that you are grieving and, whether or not they understand, express some patience and sympathy. I'm really sorry if this is not happening, but as all the others have said, we are here whenever you need us. We are all thinking of you. You really did do an amazing and wonderful thing with Peppy. Regardless of his health issues, I'm certain you gave him all the love and safety you could, and that he found some comfort and solace with you at the end. It's all any of us can ever ask to pass happy, and I have no doubt you gave Peppy that. Much love xxx

Every time I open this link and see your words typed... my poor sweet sweet Peppy... I tear up. I just cannot help feeling like Peppy is part of me... how selfish is that eh??? I guess just reading about his trials and triumphs.... has in a way... attached me as well.
He had the best life you could ever give him... be proud of what you did... Peppy is singing to you... thanking you.

Dammit! I'm sorry I'm just seeing this. Know that you gave Peppy everything. I don't know why this happens, you do everything possible and it doesn't work. ((((((((((HUGS))))))))))

I just read the whole thread, including the original post, for the first time. As soon as I saw Peppy's name I burst into tears and had to react. I'm sorry.
Oh, Easttex. My heart hurts for your loss. I really have no idea what to say, because nothing will make it better, only time. I agree with everyone, that Peppy went to the Rainbow Bridge the way "best" way. He was with you, knowing that he was very loved.
((((((((((HUGE HUGS))))))))))

Thanks, Dani, and again, everyone. I will say something most of you already know - even while you search for ways to deal with the noise, the mess, the demands, etc., treasure it. You're gonna miss it one of these days.

T I will say something most of you already know - even while you search for ways to deal with the noise, the mess, the demands, etc., treasure it. You're gonna miss it one of these days. That is very true. Even the things that sometimes seemed irritating when George the YCA did them are a part of my special memories of him now.

Absolutely true. Demanding as they are, we wouldn't have it any different. I hope you are doing ok, Easttex.

That's right . The idea was a collaboration between myself, Dani, and Easttex. The flower is a sweet pea blossom because he was often referred to as "sweet pea". Glad you like it!!

Things got a little damp today. I received a clay memorial piece with Peppy's footprints, along with a card from the four vets and two techs who treated him in Houston. They each wrote about how special he was to them and how personally they took his loss. It was very nice, and guaranteed to open my faucets. I've seen the clay pieces with paw prints before, but not with bird feet. I was trying to post a photo of it, but my iPad and photobucket do not play well together. I'll try tomorrow with my laptop.
