I'd love to see it too, and I would also have cried at that, but what a lovely thing to have in memory of him.

Aww, that's so great. I love it. What a nice memento and such a nice bunch of people to make it for you. Peppy was such a good boy, it's clear he won their hearts over too!

That was very nice of them. I remember taking a canary to my local vet a few years ago & he needed to be euthanised after the vet took a look at him (prolapsed rectum). Anyway they - one vet or tech, of course I don't know who - sent me a card which was lovely. The person spoke of the way even little pets have such a special place in our hearts. I've never forgotten the effort that one person made to help me feel better.
Thanks for sharing, Easttex.

It is a perfect momentum of Peppy. I hope you are doing okay Easttex.... It will take a long time to that hole in your heart to slowly close. Take things slowly. Miss you.

Thanks. Missing the little guy like crazy, as I know you all can imagine. I have it my mind to make a little memorial with some of his and my favorite things. I've got his pretty little urn, his footprints, lots of feathers, his chain toy, pictures (wish I'd taken more of them), and a few other odds and ends. I've got old pallets, new pine boards, all kinds of woodworking tools, stains and paint and stencils, etc. What I don't have is any creative imagination. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Why not just make like a little chest or box, you can make it as large or small as you like. .JPG) I'm sure there would be a way to like... drop your little foot prints into the top to set it in, you could even get like one of those clear coat sealant type stain to set his deathers and pictures onto it. You can stick pretty much anything on a box =D Just some ideas.

Thanks, Raeza. So far, I haven't stretched my woodworking skills, minor as they are, beyond shelves and bluebird nest boxes. A box is a possibility. This daughter of a cabinet maker should have picked up something along the way, aside from measure twice, cut once.

I like to plant plants in honor of lost pets... In the case of my fish and mantids I actually bury them under the plant, but obviously that isn't going to apply here.. Another thing we've done a lot of lately (for various purposes) is ordering photo booklets from places like Shutterfly... they are nicely bound with high quality glossy paper, and if you took your time with it you could make a really nice album in his memory. Hope you're doing well, by the way... I'm sure this is all still very hard.

Thanks, Aaron. I won't say it's gotten easy yet. There are still a few things I'm not quite ready to deal with, but I'm doing okay. Somebody gave me a hand crafted bird's eye maple pen years ago when I lost my dear lovebird, and I would like to do something with that wood. It's too nice a wood for me to mess around with, though, so I'd have to have someone else make it. Still thinking about what to do.
There is a very interesting and inexpensive iPad app called icolorama that I've been playing around with. You can do a lot of special effects to photos with it. I'm also thinking of putting that to good use.
