Hello, well I don"t know much about quaker parrots except for what I've researched about them so far. The QP I'm getting is from my grandma and she's had polly a year. Well my grandma also got polly off of craigeslist and she had some issues when she got her and i think she's about 5-6 years old . My grandma called me a couple of days ago wanting to know if i still wanted to take her and I said yes. Here are her issues she's very aggressive toward men, very territorial about her cage, and she can be quite mean when she's out of her cage.
when my grandma first got her i was the only one who could pet and get her out of the cage. but since i don't go over to her house very often i couldn't work with her.

Welcome! If you look on the Quaker Parrot Talk board, the first thread is Good Read For Rescues. It links to a good article that should give you some helpful information. What it all boils down to is patience and letting your bird set the pace. Quakers are not mean by nature. It's learned behavior, and you can guide her to better behavior with love and respect. Another article, below, gives a lot of good information on biting and on seeing things from the parrot's perspective. It's long, but very worthwhile. Good luck with Polly. You can get lots of help from forum members here. www.stfrancisanimalandbird.com/index.php/pet-resources/library/9-avian-care/84-my-parrot-bites-what-can-i-do

Thank you and I pick her up on Saturday. i went to petco today to get polly a new cage and i have it all put together. I wanted to do that to see if that might help with her aggression, and I went ahead and while I was there asked a lady about the issues and she said i was going on the right track toward helping her. Because i had told her about polly and about all the things I have planned to help polly like get her a new cage, different food, and a few other things. I wanted to do a little research on quakers ,so that I have a better understanding of what i might be able to do to help polly.

That's the way to do it. Many, many people won't do the research, have no idea what they're getting into, and parrots needing new homes is the result. Or miserable parrots. I'm sure you'll eventually find conflicting advice, if you haven't already, and it's surprising to me how much is really not known. You're doing a good thing, and here you'll find people eager to help.
