That's great! Glad to hear things are going well. I'm sure Polly is very happy to get all the attention and is warming up to her new home. Different parrots have different color preferences. Some will only eat certain colors of pellets... some will freak out when they see a certain color.. It's very cute Keep us posted as things progress!

I think you are doing extremely well and Polly is lucky to have a human slave with such natural aptitude for the profession.

Yeah... we are all slaves for sure. It is strange but true that most QP's do not like bright colors yet all of the toys in the stores are made of bright colors. Guess they are not made for QP's. I cannot wear bright colors either or Oscar will give me that look... mean mommy look.

Ah well we are thinking that whoever had her before and from what I understand she's been given from person to person before i got her from my grandma so idk what was done or what was done to her. But since I've had her she hasn't really bitten anyone, and she is still getting to know everyone that lives at my house.

Polly wasn't a good bird yesterday. In the morning she attacked the back of my sister's boyfriend head twice and she if her cage is open and I hug my boyfriend she flys around us and either lands on his shoulder cause he's much taller than me or she goes back to her cage

That sounds like a case of "you are MY human and I won't share you with anyone". In other words she's bonded to you. Now might be a good time for your boyfriend to take over some of the feeding/caregiving tasks & for you back off a little bit...Aaron, any advice? The biting behavior is, seemingly, a common trait in the quaker personality & we are struggling with our QP, Bonnie, too (on and off).

I think biteybird hit it right on the nose. You have become THE partner and your boyfriend should try and play a bigger role in Polly's care.

I forgot to mention that Polly might be more willing to interact with your boyfriend if she thinks you're not around...can you be out of the house (or at least pretend to be) for a short time while your boyfriend interacts/feeds/cleans her cage - if he's willing? It's just a thought, as Bonnie is always nicer to my husband if being with me isn't an option available to her. He could start off in 'small doses', with the ultimate aim of Polly being equally bonded to both of you. Good luck & let us know how you go with it.

Yeah, biteybird is right... Have your boyfriend start interacting with her in situations she will perceive as alone time. We had this problem with Cupcake as well, and it was eventually cured primarily by one-on-one time without me present. Cupcake eventually got to the point where she accepts and is affectionate toward all of us, but it took quite a while to change. If you are around, make sure you praise her extensively if she does anything remotely civil toward him. Have him give her treats, have him take her out of the cage... and you do the things that she doesn't like... putting her in the cage, etc. Good luck! Everyone runs into an issue of this sort at some point with Quakers it seems, but they can be solved in almost all cases. Let us know how it goes!
