I want to apologize for ALL of the spam posts we're getting in here. I deleted a ton last night and just finished now. I also banned the accounts.
There will be more, sadly. I'll continue to try to keep up with it.

Avocado should not be given to birds, it is poisonous to them. The tomato fruit is okay, but all other parts of the plant are toxic. To maintain your pet’s charm you must provide it with a regular diet. You can feed them common vegetables and fruit s that humans can digest as their digestion is not that different. To make it easier i have prepared a separate list of fruits and vegetable which veterinarian recommend to parakeets owner: FRUITS : ● Apples ● Mangoes ● Watermelon ● Tomatoes ● Banana ● Kiwi ● Avocado ● Pineapple ● Lemon ● Strawberry ● Tangerine ● Cherries ● Grapefruits VEGETABLES : ● Green pepper ● Cabbage ● Corn ● Peas ● Cucumber ● Parsley ● Radish ● Spinach ● Lettuce ● Sweet potatoes ● Kale ● Dandelion leaves ● Broccoli

This is just a friendly reminder to always research any charity you're considering donating to.
I personslly don't know anything about this one, but you can check the legitimacy of any charity by going to the Secretary of State's website in the state where they are supposedly registered. If they claim to be a federal 501c3 non-profit organization, you can check that status on the IRS website.
These are trying times for everyone, and every dollar matters. Take care, everyone!

I'll do some research and make a new thread on how to post photos. I've had this very thing in my head for awhile, so thank you for the virtual kick in the pants! 🤣

Have any of you heard of sending live baby parrots through the United States Postal Service?
About a month ago I decided that I was ready to bring a new baby Parrotlet into my life. I searched everywhere I could think of locally, and realized that I was going to have to have a baby shipped to me (luckily I found my 6 year old "baby", Beans).
I had a conversation with a breeder who is on the opposite side of the country, and he ships all of his babies in the mail. I was very surprised by, and unsure of, this so I did some research on it. Day-old poultry and medium to large sized adult birds (6oz to 25lbs) in USPS approved packaging are mailable, if they are sent without any food or water. This is okay for day-old poultry because the yolk sac is still attached and provides nutrition. But I can't imagine sending parrots, young or adult, without food or water. The person I talked to assured me that the babies are sent with pieces of fruit, which made me feel better but is illegal.
The only somewhat safe way of shipping parrots is still through Delta Airlines, and even that is risky.
I just wanted to warn others about this practice that I only recently heard about. 🦜

I honestly would not recommend an African Grey for your first bird. What are your reasons for wanting one? If we know this, maybe we can help you find a less demanding parrot. I'm sorry for being less than positive, but I want you to have an enjoyable coexistence with your first parrot, and vice versa. 😊

LOL The beak bump is him nicely asking us to get out of his cage.
He also regurgitated for both of us, which is a really great sign that he's happy here! They only do that when they love you! I'm so glad!!

Beans is a 6 year old male Pacific Parrotlet who came from Pico's breeder!
I've been wanting another Parrotlet for awhile, and there aren't any babies available locally. When I asked Nita's husband if she had or knew of any, he told me about this little guy.
Nita hand raised him for her daughter, who gave him tons of attention, until she moved. Sadly for him, she moved into a place where Beans would not have been safe with her Indian Ringnecks, so he stayed with Nita and her husband where he's safe but didn't get as much attention.
When I asked about a baby, they said "we have an older male that we will give you". OMG, what a gift!
He's home and settling in, and I have a question about one of his behaviors. I've watched hours of YouTube videos, but what does it mean when I put my hand in the cage and he runs over and thumps it with his closed beak? LOL
He's perfectly fine with my hand in the cage when we're playing with his toys, and he seems to like having his beak rubbed. He's done the regurgitation dance several times. LOL

I would take your babies to an avian vet for a checkup, and ask them for advice. Good luck! 😊🐦

I agree with Gary. Unfortunately a trip to the vet is in order. Best wishes! 💕
