Shah loves being sprayed so I would never use this method to stop him screaming. Parrots scream from time to time - that's a fact. It is a natural behaviour they do in the wild. Shah sometimes screams excessively so I do the opposite of what everyone tells me and go and see what's happening. He often just needs to be picked up and given a few cuddles and have a bit of a chat and he is usually okay after that. Sometimes I use Tellington Touch to help him settle down. Each parrot's response may be different so you just have to read up on what works for others and give it a go until you find one that works for you. But I would never use a water spray on any animal as a deterrent. I certainly wouldnt like to be sprayed in the face with water

I sing to Shah as he doesnt really care about music as such. His favourite is "How much is that Sharni in the window" as he says "Shah" when he hears his name and he kind of screams along. He also likes "Old McSharni had a farm" and bops his head and sometimes does the "baa" of the sheep. We do duck, Pippin, sheep and by the time cows come along, he is bored.

Oh Aaron, Cupcake has got you where she wants you - the complete slave She must be very proud of the work she has done with you. Having said that, when I move next year and the birds get their own room, I will be giving them my current TV where I can play all their Blu-rays and DVDs which have been collected over the years. Plus I am getting a lounge so I can sit in there and watch the TV with them.

Currently where I am living I see flocks of cockatoos, galahs and corellas as well as a couple of crimson rosellas and an occasional couple of eastern rosellas. We have lorikeets in abundance. Where I lived before, we had king parrots - now they really are a sight to behold. While the cockatoos are noisy, to see them flying and enjoying life is truly wonderful. Just thought I would mention about the budgie photo - note that there are no colour variations. This is because if there is a colour variation, birds of prey can target that specific bird quite easily so its life expectancy would be the same as anyone on Game of Thrones - zippo.

Dani, hope you are not talking about the Queen Mother. I actually felt sorry for her and hope she gives the others exactly what they deserve.

Easttex, being Australian, I DONT go and see Australian movies - dont know why but they just dont appeal to me. As to GoT, I will never get over the shock. Couldnt watch Paul as I couldnt move out of the chair for ages thinking of all the ways I would kill some of those people. When I first saw GoT, it was ep 3 of Series 1 - couldnt figure out what was going on so didnt bother watching it again. I saw it last year on special at the local shop so bought the first 3 series - from the first ep onwards, I was traumatised. You cant like anyone in it - their life expectancy is not good. I keep telling myself it is only a tv show, but boy, have I been sucked in big time.

I agree with you Aaron that the best thing to do is to take away the hutch but I just cant risk it - he mutilates at the slightest upset and it takes at least 3 months for him to stop doing it and let the skin heal. He is a little horror at times. I am getting beak bashed and yelled at frequently these days - not sure why but I think it has something to do with me talking to the cockatiels when I clean out their cage and give them breakfast or supper. He just hates Pippin and Pips is just the sweetest cockatiel - all he wants is head scratches and I have to sneak some in when His Royal Highness isn't looking - but I think he knows there is something going on

Biteybird, it wouldn't be much of a holiday if we had to take our own birds. Shah would be even worse as he wouldn't cope with the change.

Okay Sharyn, it is about to start and I am already stressed to the max wondering who they are going to do away with. Oh god, don't let it be John Snow.

They go "what did he just say?" cos they don't believe their ears. It is very clear. He was yelling at Pippin yesterday and then I heard him say Monkey Breath - so the name must apply to Pippin as well although Shah can say his name.

I have been watching it - last of the series tonight. No spoilers but the one last week left me very traumatised. But then, I have spent most of the time being traumatised by this show since I watched the first episode of series 1. It is certainly great viewing.

Are you crazy Aaron - take away his hutch? I would be in the hospital for serious blood loss due to quaker frenzy attack Shah is one of those quakers who doesnt like any change so I keep things as they are. He goes hysterical if I move things around and, due to the fact that he is a mutilator, I avoid any changes in his cage - or very small changes - which may or may not be accepted He sleeps in his hutch (never poops in it)and sometimes takes food into it for a midnight snack. It is such a big part of his life that I wouldnt want to take it away from him. Besides he holds on to it and the side of the cage to scream abuse at Pippin and Spike

What a cheeky boy. He looks quite regal in the second picture - kind of like a king surveying his realm (and slaves).

Or being called Monkey Breath in front of people I get yelled at all the time if things arent perfect. Some days are just exhausting - yelled at constantly and I dont know what I have done wrong. Go to get him out of his cage to soothe him and I get beak bashed and yelled at even more. Or else he is in attack mode and if I dare put my hand in his cage near his hutch, I get seriously bitten. I wish I was a mind reader.
