Putting him down in a couple minutes. The clinic closes at noon.

I'm so sorry, Siobhan. We're both "giving up" this weekend. I'm at the vet right now, waiting for Zach to get on his lunch break, and then putting Pico down.

I'm putting him down. I sent Zach a text, telling him to call me on his lunch break, and to come to the clinic if he can, to say goodbye.

I'm at my local vet with Pico, and the vet techs have been on the phone with Dr. Ferguson. Pico is having a bad seizure, and has been given two doses of Valium. They're giving him IV fluids now.
Please pray for us.

I'll be talking to the office tomorrow, because Pico had another seizure today and Dr. Ferguson wants my local vet clinic to give me some Valium. They asked me to have Dr. Ferguson write a prescription, but her office was closed. So I have to call in the morning.

He was on Baytril in March (it didn't do anything); then Interferon, the antiviral; now he's on Celebrex and I gave him a dose of the strong antibiotic this morning. We'll see. I found a bag that works great as a Pico bag...I didn't even have to make it! He's been helping me do the dishes, but I took a break to post some pictures. He was preening, so you can't see his head...LOL

Holy crap, Dr. Ferguson isn't playing games. The antibiotic just arrived...here is what's on the medication information sheet. It sounds like one heck of an antibiotic. Chloramphenicol Your veterinarian has prescribed this medication for the treatment of a bacterial infection. Possible side effects: * It can cause suppression of bone marrow resulting in anemia. [Hence the blood work after 10 days] * May also cause depression, loss of appetite, vomiting and diarrhea. Do: * Use this medication exactly as prescribed. * Contact your veterinarian if you see unusual signs. * If mixing an oral product with food, give immediately after mixing. * Contact your veterinarian for dosing instructions if you have missed a dose. * Handle with gloves and wash hands well after administration. Don't: * Skip follow-up appointments. ------------- I just looked it up on www.drugs.com and this is the very first thing at the top of the page. Scary. "Chloramphenicol has caused severe and sometimes fatal blood problems (eg, anemia, low blood platelets, low white blood cell counts). Leukemia has also been reported after use of chloramphenicol. Blood problems have occurred after both short-term and long-term use of chloramphenicol. Do not use chloramphenicol if safer, effective medicines can be used. Do not use chloramphenicol to treat or prevent simple infections (eg, cold, flu, throat infections). Lab tests, such as complete blood cell counts, will be done to check for side effects. You may need to be hospitalized while you are using chloramphenicol so that appropriate lab work can be performed."

But, Pico had at least a few minutes when he felt well enough to play with his toy. I'll take it!

Today is looking up now. I lost my key ring, which had my car key, Zach's spare car key, and my house key. I had my car towed to the dealership (I'm here now), and will have a new key in about half an hour. Then when Zach gets home I can get a new house key made. At some point we'll get Zach a new spare for his car. While I was waiting for the tow truck, I put my car license sticker on the license plate, but accidentally put the 2016 sticker on top of the month instead of the year. As I peeled it off, the sticker broke. But I got it off and put on the year. Then, as I was coming back outside (I was cleaning out the garbage from my car) I slammed my hand in the front door of my house. Ouch! Then, a bee flew into my face. I'm terrified of bees, but I didn't get stung, though. Not my day. LOL

Today is NOT a good day at all, but the two bright spots are that it's sunny and beautiful weather and Pico is feeling good today. He was just playing with his toy.

I won't try to talk to down, either, because I don't know what's best for your family. Just know that whatever you decide you have my support and sympathy.

Zach has to work, so will be here. I'll miss him like crazy, too! My niece does competitive sprint kayaking, and qualified for the Nationals. So I'm going with my parents and my sister's family. I'm so happy that my dad is going; we'll see how he does.
