They have to put that stuff on as a worse case scenario. I am on a puffer every day (and have been for years) - it has massive side effects but without it, I would be dead. Havent suffered any side effects yet - but they could still show up. Any drug is a risk - but if it means he might get better then it is worth taking the risk.

My dad had glaucoma, and when he read the list of potential side effects for the eye drops that were prescribed for him, he said "I don't think I want to use this stuff." Especially upsetting was the phrase "misuse may result in death." He immediately called his ophthalmologist, who reassured him that the chances of his suffering any of the side effects were extremely remote. In your situation, Dani, I think I'd talk it over with Pico's vet for some reassurance, just as my dad talked to his doctor about his prescription.

I'll be talking to the office tomorrow, because Pico had another seizure today and Dr. Ferguson wants my local vet clinic to give me some Valium. They asked me to have Dr. Ferguson write a prescription, but her office was closed. So I have to call in the morning.

Is there anything that you have noticed that may set off the seizures?

I'm at my local vet with Pico, and the vet techs have been on the phone with Dr. Ferguson. Pico is having a bad seizure, and has been given two doses of Valium. They're giving him IV fluids now.
Please pray for us.

I'm putting him down. I sent Zach a text, telling him to call me on his lunch break, and to come to the clinic if he can, to say goodbye.

Putting him down in a couple minutes. The clinic closes at noon.

I'm so sorry, Dani. I'm sure he will leave a hole in your life way out of proportion to his size. Never even met the little guy, but had to have a bit of a cry over this. I have Allie in my lap and she looked baffled.

I am SO sorry. Poor little guy. You've done everything you can, and this is the last thing you can do for him. You can't let him suffer.

Oh, man....what an experience. This is the third bird I had put down, and the hardest by far. We had literally tried everything we could to get him better, and that is heartbreaking.
