Rocky let me eat dinner in peace, but as soon as I was done, he wanted to sit on my lap. He stuffed his head under my arm and rolled his tongue around (he does that when we snuggle, I don't know what it means) and sat there for the longest time, just as happy as a clam.

Rocky seems to have taken the Cockatoo reputation for sweetness and cuddliness to a higher level. I seem to remember reading somewhere that contented 'Toos sometimes do that tongue-rolling thing, much like Quakers purr when they're happy.

He does it when we snuggle and he does it when I'm petting or talking to him, so it must be a happy thing. He also doesn't yell as much as 'toos reportedly do. A little in the morning, maybe a couple of minutes. He yells if he thinks you're in the house but not within sight. And at bedtime to signal he wants to be covered. But he doesn't just yell to yell.

He is such a gorgeous boy - in complete contrast to Clyde Rocky must bring you a lot of joy - it is pretty obvious that he loves being with you. Just cant imagine anyone wanting to give us this little snuggle bunny.

The woman said her husband had "anxiety" and the doctor said Rocky's yelling could give him a heart attack and kill him. What her husband has is too much to drink too often, we discovered. My friend (who I still owe money to for paying for Rocky) did some investigating. This town is small enough that you always know somebody who knows somebody. Turns out they just needed some quick cash so they sold Rocky. I'm glad they did, or he wouldn't be here!

Thank goodness for you. Those people don't deserve to have any animals.

Allie CAG will sometimes roll her tongue around when she's feeling affectionate. I think of it as equivalent to licking her lips, but does anyone really do that in anticipation? Maybe it's time to start writing those books, Siobhan, so you can become fabulously wealthy and work from home. Or not work at all.

Siobhan's animals would love it if she was home all day

...Yes, but maybe Siobhan wouldn't (not if she were to get ANY work done).

I'd be perfectly willing to be home all day if I still had money, but unfortunately, if we're going to eat regularly, somebody has to make some and that appears to be me. If these darned birds would learn to do cute enough tricks to get on TV, THEY could make some money.

I'm pretty sure pole dancing parrots could land a lucrative TV spot or two. Or how about a reality show, starring all of your critters? What would that be called?

Cupcake does a tongue wagging thing inside her beak when she's really into being cuddly and getting head rubs... That and gently chewing on her foot. Rocky sounds fantastic.

Rocky does this thing when he doesn't want to step down where he reaches out with his foot and tries to find something on me to grab, or goes up my arm to my shoulder (which doesn't scare me as much as it did the first time, now that I realize that he's unlikely to chomp my ear, unlike certain Quakers). It's exactly what Clyde does when HE doesn't want to step off, but for some reason I didn't recognize it as the same behavior until yesterday. Rocky had just done it and the reason I wanted him to step down was so I could go clean the birds' room, and then Clyde did it down there and I thought, Eureka! and then I thought, Idiot.

Rocky sounds like a 'dream' bird to me...certainly less bipolar than some quakers. I am so glad he is with you and not in his previous situation. One wonders how much interaction/attention he got - I suspect not much. Aaron, isn't the foot-chewing thing amusing? Bonnie does it too.
