Hi, I'm Lori I'm hoping to collect my first quaker (a little blue boy) on Saturday! I've had budgies, a cockatiel and lovebirds, but not for a while, and I've done a LOT of research, but I'm still feeling quite nervous! The breeder I'm getting him from says she'll be there to support me with any problems, but in case I need some extra help, I thought I'd find a good forum, so here I am

Welcome, Lori! Happy to have you join us on the Forum. I imagine that you're counting the minutes until your new QP comes home. It's great that you've done lots of research and also have the breeder to call upon for guidance. Of course, you're always welcome to ask questions here, and there's lots of good advice and useful information in the Forum posts. Fun Quaker parrot stories too. And we'll want to hear all about your new feathered friend once he's home with you.

We decided on a quaker quite early in our research, they seemed like the best bird for us; we looked at ringnecks for a while, but preferred the slightly puppy-ish look of the quakers. I'm enjoying reading the forum, loads of great advice, and I'll certainly be sharing our experiences with our new baby

He's blue, all the quaker colours are lovely, but I do like the blue most, it's so pretty <3 P.S; I nearly bought a little yellow girl a few weeks ago, but my daughter said she looked like a canary!!

Two more sleeps! Looking forward to updates! One more sleep! Not that I'm going to sleep much, I'm far too excited, I'm glad my mum is driving me! I'm going to be a nervous wreck, it's such a huge responsibility, this tiny bird Oh, and in case you're wondering, I did look at Lorikeets! A Lori for Lori WAS tempting, but they just weren't the right type of bird for us, although they are very beautiful <3

We made it home safely! He is adorable! He is so tame, he was quite happy to give me a kiss when I first met him We're letting him explore his new home and get used to the sight and sound of us all without bothering him too much for the rest of the evening, we're just sitting in the room talking and watching TV quietly, but he's eating and drinking and chirping away to us already <3 No pics yet; it's too early to be pushing a camera in his face, but some will follow over the next few days x (I'm calling him 'he', he hasn't been DNA tested, but the breeder said she was fairly confident it is a boy) ![]()

Welcome home to your new feathered friend! He seems to be comfortable already. Have you decided on a name yet? No hurry on the pictures but everyone will be happy to see some when the time is right.

I think finding a name that fits the bird is so much fun. My boy came with the name “Willow” and though I think it’s a trendy name, it fits him.
There are so many blue color words. I think my Will Looks like a cloudy sky.

It looks like Peregrine/Pippin has been having fun demolishing things. Hope he's setting in well and you're enjoying each other's company.

What a cute little Quaker! He looks like he’s light blue all over.
Destruction is fun.
