It looks like Peregrine/Pippin has been having fun demolishing things. Hope he's setting in well and you're enjoying each other's company. Honestly, I can see why feral parrots are a problem; his favourite thing is chewing the buds and stripping the bark from twigs! Luckily I live in the country where sycamore and ash trees grow like weeds, so I can easily keep up a steady supply; I scrub them with a strong white vinegar solution, rinse them in boiling water and dry them in the oven (I also keep tropical fish, so I've had experience in cleaning things properly to use for delicate animals!) He's settling in wonderfully now he knows us and where everything is, he's really showing his true personality, he's so confident and funny, we're having a great time! Likes; apples, grapes, sunflower seeds, biting phones, throwing things on the floor, flying, sitting on people's heads and destroying twigs Dislikes; kale, sweetcorn, going back to his cage at bedtime I know it probably won't all be like this, ask me again this time next year when he's going through puberty and we might have a different tale to tell, but we'll work through whatever comes our way

What a cute little Quaker! He looks like he’s light blue all over. Destruction is fun. Thank you; he's actually a normal blue quaker colour, my phone camera is so awful! He probably has some interesting genetics; his dad is a cobalt blue and his mum is white (must NOT look up 'how to breed quaker parrots', no Lori, walk away from the computer now )

Oh wow, I have wanted a cobalt Quaker for years. I am disappointed he’s not really that color, though.

Happily, I have already solved the going to bed problem, the solution was staring me in the face all the time! There is a place for a food bowl ON THE DOOR! I popped a short perch next to it, and now he has all his meals from that bowl, and, at odd moments when he's out during the day, I pop him onto that perch and we have a little chat or sing song, or some kisses, or treats from the bowl. Sometimes I close the door and open it immediately, sometimes I close it and leave him for a moment, sometimes it's for five minutes while I go to the bathroom, sometimes it's because it's bedtime, but he never knows which it is, and the majority of times, it's just a quick treat and back out to play, so that spot now has more positive associations than negative ones It's a small step, but I'm glad I was able to think laterally and find a way to make it a positive experience for Pippin; he was so cross going to bed the first night!!!

I like his colour; it's like a peafowl, so iridescent and changeable; I'm an artist, I could stare at his feathers for hours!

Glad you are getting the bedtime routine down. That’s one thing Casey has always liked. He says night night night and goes into the cage. I used to tell my kids when they grow up and put their own kids to bed it will be way more work
