Today I signed the paperwork and paid the fees and Izzie is now officially mine. She wasn't having a very good day today and had ripped up her coat something severe - it is now in the bin. I, on the other hand, had a wonderful day knowing that she has now joined the menagerie and I can take care of her.

Congratulations, Jan & Izzie, a forward step for both of you. I'm sure it will be challenging in many ways, but very rewarding. Tell us how she settles in.

I had an awful vision there for a moment, thinking about her ripping up her coat, but then realized you must mean something external. Congratulations on the official new family member! It's such a good thing when the hard cases find their way to the most compassionate people.

Easttex, your comment made me smile. By "coat", Jan means a horse blanket.

I now have a place to agist Izzie when I move to the "country" next year. The property is 2km from my house which is no big deal - she is about 35kms away from me at the present time. I am really pleased this has fallen into place so quickly as I will be able to see her every day

Hopefully that will be just what it takes to help Izzie bond with you. Is "Izzie" shorthand for something?

Her name is Ishma - which means destruction. She was renamed Izzie when she came into rescue. I dont call her Ishma anymore as I think it is negative.

Yes, I should have remembered that from an old thread. If that was her in your old profile photo, she certainly looks more like an Izzie.

She is my gorgeous girl. Due to continuing ill health, I may be forced to take early retirement which means I move into my little house in country which I am not quite ready to do but wont have a choice. Izzie will only be 2kms away from me so I can see her every day which will be just wonderful. She has helped me to get through so much over the last 6 months. Shah's nursing skills suck

I hope your health issues can be resolved quickly. Having the ability to see Izzie every day will be wonderful, though! I hope Izzie's nursing skills are better than Shah's!

I hope you are not forced into it, but I much prefer the rural life. At some point I guess I'll have to go back to living among more of my fellow man and woman, but you'll see the ruts created by my fingernails when I do.
