Izzie's real name is Ishma which means devastation. She lived up to her name on Sunday when we were working with a trainer. The lead rope got caught around my legs and Izzie took off in fright causing me to land on my knees then my chin hit the ground. As a result, my ribs are a mess (going to the doctor today), bruising down one side of my body and I have a huge bruise on my chin. Poor Izzie was really shaken up by it and when I went into the paddock later to feed her some carrot, she kept galloping away from me which made me feel worse. She is being looked after by a couple of people as she was still upset on Sunday night. I am hoping that she will settle by next weekend so we can spend some quiet time together. I think training by a stranger might be too much for her as the expectations that she will perform are high - she is one very smart pony but I could see she was becoming confused by what was required of her.

My ribs have taken some of the impact. The doctor doesnt know if I have a cracked rib - no point in xrays as she said there is nothing she can do anyway. On anti-inflammatories which are helping to ease the pain but it still hurts. Cant take any deep breaths without major pain. This is the 5th week of the flu so you can imagine what happens when I try to cough - I am beginning to think that I will never feel well again. Anne sent me a note yesterday to say Izzie was fine which is a relief - will be seeing her on Saturday.

I'm so sorry this happened. I really hope you're okay and will be back on your feet (and able to breathe without pain!) very soon!

Saw Izzie today. She was pleased to see me. Thinned out her mane and gave her a good brush as she is shedding her winter coat. We did a little bit of work and went for a grazing walk. She was absolutely brilliant and I am so happy that the bond we have is still strong.

The pain in the ribs is pretty horrific but learning how to deal with it by not doing the usual slugging around (putting weight on the area) and not carrying heavy things. Believe it will be a few weeks before it heals so I have to learn to be patient. Flu is just about gone so coughing has reduced dramatically - thank goodness. Thanks for asking Dani. That was really good news about Cami - bet you breathed a big sigh of relief. She is such a special girl and I know she means the world to you.

Oh, good! I'm glad the flu is almost gone, that will make it easier for the rest of you to heal. Oh my, yes I was VERY happy with Cami's x-ray results! (I'll write a post in Cami's thread to explain why she had an x-ray.) She really does mean the world to me, she's quite a horse.

I totally missed this until now. Maybe Izzie shouldn't have a trainer if it stresses her that much. She's smart; couldn't you just work with her? And I hope you're all better soon. I'm sure she's sorry!

Hi Siobhan, saw Izzie on the weekend but she wasn't very well (and neither was I). Because I have been so ill she hasn't been doing any work and it shows. I am a little better so hope to spend some time with her this coming weekend - she wont like being put back into work again though. My friend and I will be the only ones working with her from now on. I have really missed seeing her - it breaks my heart not to spend time with her.

Saw Izzie today. As stated previously, she has been a bit skittish with me even since I had the fall. But today I walked right up to her, put on her halter and took her up to the round arena. I thinned out her mane (as it is going to be 44 degrees Celsius tomorrow), gave her a brush down and my friend did a bit of work with her. When we left the arena (and I had taken off her halter) she walked beside me. It was just so wonderful that we are back to where we were before I got ill. I absolutely adore this little mare - she has a special place in my heart.

My friend has been taking heaps of photos of Izzie. I haven't seen them yet but when I do, I will send some to you. I look forward to seeing photos of Cami. How is she going?
