Oh, Jan! I'm so sorry to hear about all of this! I think Shah will recover from his ordeal (his misadventure in the outside world), in time.
I hope he settles down okay, and is able to maybe relax at the vet...sending positive thoughts to you!

I am really upset - he didn't want to go back and I feel awful - he was screaming out for me. I am also really upset with people telling me to wring his neck - just because he is not a horse/dog/cat why should he be treated any less? People really s&&^^%%t me at times.

Who on earth has been telling you that??? That's absolutely disgusting. I hate it when people are so completely heartless like this. It doesn't matter what species an animal is, they would never tolerate anyone saying that about their pets and it's so completely insensitive when it's obvious how much you care about Shah! I'm sorry you've had to put up with that, Jan, that really is horrible.
At least you know that, if anything happens, Shah is in the right place. I know it must be horrible to know he is away from you, but remember that at least the vet is a familiar place and so he should settle down a little more quickly. No animal wants to starve to death, so once the stress passes and he gets hungry enough, he will eat. Will the vet allow you to visit while Shah is there? Because that might help you both. I, like the others, have a lot of faith that Shah will recover. In the meantime, maybe try, if you're able, to avoid people who are cruel and insensitive enough to dismiss your relationship with Shah in such a thoughtless way. I know just how damaging being around people like that can be, and what you need is people who will understand. We are all thinking of you. xx

I wonder how they'd like being told they should have their own necks wrung for being so infuriating. I got that too with Peppy. More like, he's just a bird. I like a lot of people individually, but as a species, no. Hell is other people. (I don't remember who gets credit for that.)

Beccilouise, I choose not to visit Shah as it makes the situation worse for him - he becomes even more stressed. As to those "people", I am going to do a Facebook blast tomorrow - those who are innocent wont take much notice but those who are guilty will get the message. I really miss my cheeky boy and know that he isn't doing well being away from home. I can still hear him screaming as I walked away from him

Hi Jan, I just got back from camping for a couple of days, so I didn't see these posts till now. I think it's appalling that people would say that to you. I hope Shah improves at the vet and that you are able to ignore the horrible comments by those ignorant, non-compassionate few.

Hi Jan, the facebook blast sounds like a good idea and the not visiting thing sounds like it will settle Shah better. Hopefully the mass will not take long to treat and he will be back with you very soon. I'm sorry again you've had to listen to nonsense like that.

Jan, I'm sorry you and Shah are going through all of this People really just don't understand birds... they think they are simple creatures. It can be very frustrating and hurtful to talk to people that don't understand in situations like this. Ugh.

Is Shah still eating and doing okay with the vet? I know you miss him something fierce, but I assume his absence will allow you to focus on all the other stuff you have to get done. It really is too bad we don't all live in the same neighborhood. It might be a good idea for a retirement community - only bird lovers allowed.

They assure me he is still eating - but it doesn't sound like he is eating much. He had his friend, the blue quaker, there for a couple of days and they were chatting (probably yelling) at each other but don't know if he has gone home now. They retest Shah on Thursday to see if the mass has moved. I worry about him constantly.

I'm so sorry to hear about Shah. He'll be back to you and all better soon! Ignore the people saying to "wring his neck", people who don't share their life with a bird themselves just don't understand what it's like.

Woo hoo - the mass has completely gone. My boss calls him the Million Dollar Buzzard. Am leaving work in a few minutes to go and pick him up (only 1.50pm here). Can hardly wait to see him. Have no doubt he will be screaming and yelling for the next few days
