Sigh... I think we're back to the Houston vet sooner than I had hoped. Peppy is now up to 147g. He was at about 135g for the longest time, and the gain has been pretty rapid. If anything, his keel is feeling sharper and his abdomen is feeling firmer. His vet and I have emailed, but she's not back in the office until Wednesday.

We have an appointment tomorrow. He's not eating much, so it's none too soon. All he wants to do is cuddle up to my neck. That's all I want to do, too.

Sorry to hear it... We'll be thinking of you guys. Peppy is such a little trooper, for sure. If any bird can make it through these ailments, it's him!

Best of luck with everything. I'm sure Peppy will get past it. Hope the vet can see you soon if you haven't been seen already.

Even though I have been very distressed about Shah, I have also been worried about Peppy. How did he go?

Not well, I'm afraid. He had another ultrasound, and the mass is getting bigger. And there is now a pretty clear indication that it involves the liver rather than the reproductive tract. It could be both places as well, which might explain why the lupron seemed to help before. Nearly all signs are pointing to liver cancer.
They took some fluid off his belly, but I don't think it gave him much relief, and he still had labored breathing last night. A sample of the fluid is being examined for cancer cells, but even if they don't show up, cancer is not eliminated. It will also be cultured for bacterial infection. I asked that he be given lupron on the very small chance that it will help again, but I don't have too much hope there.
It was a very long day for both of us, and I think he was pretty worn out by the time we got home. He did eat a little. I'm going to try going back to syringe feeding, to keep his liver working. We're tripling his pain medication. Other than that, I'm waiting for test results. I should get the cytology today or tomorrow, but the culture will take several days.
I have to be prepared for him to go downhill very quickly. I'm trying to balance that with hoping for the best.
