No, no! They often live up to their names! LOL I'm sorry you're having a tough time with Bonnie.
I named Chewy after Quaker Chewy granola bars. I was hungry and looking through the pantry and it was a "Eureka!" moment. LOL

I cannot believe no one on here hasn't already suggested "Kevin." We kept Otey's original name, but we changed Aldo's from The Count, and Lovey's from Willow. Budgie the parakeet became Buddy, so that wasn't too much of a stretch. Until you decide on a name, just keep calling him "pretty boy." You'll naturally say it with affection, & he'll associate that with you.

I was stumped about a name for my guy too. I don't like the same olé names like kiwi or clover so I took the first 2 letters of my name and the first 2 of my husbands name and we got Cabu. It fits him......

We went with Simon. Hopefully it works. My GCC is Sheldon and it fits him well. My son's Cockatiel (that I care for) is Penny! She is kinda a blonde like Penny from Big bang theory so it works also.

I showed this thread to Hubby when he came home from work. His contribution:
"Why bother? They're going to be calling him 'Master' soon enough."
True...so true....

So funny! They own us and they probably have names for us too. I'm trying to get Cabu to say momma's baby. He'll probably come back with I'm not your baby, I own you.

My sweet girl is named izzy who is a year old and my friend just got a male and named him Ziggy . Izzy can say her name in several voices and it seemed pretty easy for her to pick up. Ziggy is still too young to talk yet but we plan to start teaching him is name as soon as he is possible .

I don't know how old Ziggy is but a Quaker can speak as early as a few weeks. Start training now.

The latter would be a nod to the Quaker's South American roots. That's how my boyfriend and I came up with the name Carlos! We pick him up this Saturday and he is our first bird. 5 months old so we have a lot to learn! This forum has been outstanding! :-)

Izzy's mum, my Byron is nearly 7 months old now and has not yet learned to speak. Some birds just never take to it. However, if you've got one who can already speak, it might encourage Ziggy to pick it up as well
