Awww, what a cutie!! Suggest to your mama that she choose a name that fits your personality. Give it time, the right name will come.

We looked up baby names online....lots of different sites. Just go through male names & one will 'leap' out at you! Or you can go with generic non-gender pet names, although for a male I always fancied "Mr. Darcy" from Pride and Prejudice!

I am going to name the next male I get "Quentin" after one of my favorite characters on a gothic soap opera that has been off the air for years. I tend to pick names that were characters from TV shows or movies I actually had a different name for Mr P and called him that the first day I took him home. I had named him "Dobby" after the house elf in the Harry Potter movies. However, after spending an entire day with him and saying "my goodness, what a little piggy you are", all day long because he would not stop stuffing his face in, I decided that Mr Piggy (shortened to Mr P) just fit him SO MUCH BETTER As it turns out, his name fits him to a T, he is VERY food oriented and spends most of his day saying to me "Do uwanna yummy? (which is what I say to him before I give him a treat and means HE wants one) good luck

I'm always coming across names and thinking "that would make a good bird name" but I'm usually thinking about it in terms of chickens, so not that many male names. If you'd like something from mythology, there are Thor and Hercules, Herk for short. Or he could be Ra, the ancient Egyptian sun god. For historical figures, Caesar and Simon Bolivar (either or both) come to mind. The latter would be a nod to the Quaker's South American roots. I like the name Cooper for a Quaker. You know, for Gary Cooper, who played a Quaker in Friendly Persuasion. It's the most fun to give them a name that means something to you, but maybe this will help spark your imagination a little.

Welcome! I was spared from thinking up a name. Both parrots I've lived with were already named when I got them, knew their names, and the names suited them. Many parronts name their feathered companions for a favorite actor or actress, character in a book, movie or video game, or a favorite musician or singer. Sometimes, the parrot's coloring or personality will suggest a name. Human proper names are always good too-- the possibilities are endless. Just keep thinking, and try out a few of the names to see what your still-unnamed Quaker thinks of them. Eventually, you'll find one you both like.

I love the name "Beaker," after the character on the Muppet show...but I don't know this baby's personality, so I agree that it will seem obvious in time.

This reminds me of the character "Captain Beaky" from the 1970s-80s kids' music cassettes (yep, I'm old) called "Captain Beaky and his band". Not a bad name for a quaker! Also, the music was excellent.

What I usually do is make a list of three or four names I like and then ask the bird to choose. You'll know when he likes one. With Freddie, for example, I said "Do you want to be (name)?" Utter silence until I got to "Freddie" and he said "PEEP!" I wanted to call my starling "Paddy" or "Patty" until she got big enough so I'd know which was appropriate and she did NOT agree. The sound she made when I inquired "do you want to be Paddy?" cannot adequately be reproduced into print. LOL So I said, "Okay, do you want to be Ringo?" (because it was toooo tempting to name her Ringo Starrling, LOL) and she said "CHIRP!" very enthusiastically, so Ringo it is in spite of her turning out to be a girl. Proof that she really likes it is that she learned to say it as one of her very first words. So that would be my suggestion. Try some names and see which he responds to. I can assure you that if you try to call him something he doesn't like, he will refuse to acknowledge that as his name.

OK, after putting up with Bonnie's squawking all afternoon (at 2-second intervals) and non-stop chewing - how about "Havoc", "Chaos" or simply "Pain in the Ass" as names? )) Sorry, just venting!
