So over the past few weeks, one of my fids (not naming names) has developed an obsession with going into the others cage and eating his food and chewing up his toys. Even tho her cage has the same food, and roughly the same selection of toys. My solution was to build a neutral play stand. It took them a couple days to get comfortable with the idea of a new big scary object in the house, but after showing them there are treats hidden around on it, they are coming around to the idea.

Agreed, it all comes down to the individual parrot. Yoshi loves his happy hut and doesn't chew on it. I use snuggle sacks for Melly, tho I have to replace them often because she loves to chew through the floor of them!

That's awesome! Does Jade know quite a few words/phrases?
I do know what you mean, about the practicing in secret. There are many times I will wake up, and Yoshi will think I'm still asleep, and he will be chattering away. Usually saying the same few things over and over, often times it's words or phrases I've never heard him say before, and often never hear again.

It's taken a very long time, but working on our trust bond has brought us to this point!

My birds always have access to pellets. I feed them random treats (usually safflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds), fruits, veggies, bread (whole wheat, when im eating a sammich or something), or other random things through the day. Yoshi has always been between 95-98 grams, and Melly around 89-91.

I learn more and more every day that parrots are very finicky creatures and you can't always predict what they will do or how they will act.
For example, my Sun Conure, Melly, has always been a one person bird. She has always disliked everyone else and would stick to me like velcro, I couldn't hand her to anyone else, she'd fly back to me immediately. Even people she's spent a lot of time around, like my parents.
So one day, my mom went to the pet store with me and Melly. I conned Melly into sitting on moms shoulder on the trip there and back. Ever since then, my mom is Melly's BFF. Seriously, if I take the parrots to my parents house, Melly screams and throws a fit until I pass her off to my mom, and insists on being with her the entire visit. I don't know what happened on that trip to the pet store, but Melly took a complete 180!

It's just pellets, yes. I'm not sure how she'd respond to soaked pellets, as I've never soaked any for her. Also, those would probably end up stuck to the wall . I could try the newspaper thing, tho most of the pellets she literally throws out the side of the cage, not to the bottom. The whole area around her cage will be covered in pellets when I wake up / come home from school heh.

Wow, these are really cool! Does she sell them by chance?

My Sun Conure, Melly, has been acting out (I assume) lately. While I sleep, or while I am away at school, she will empty the contents of her food dish onto the floor, completely emptying it. Then she stands on the side of the dish and screams (presumably because she's hungry).
My first thought was maybe she was getting bored, so I moved toys around in her cage and added a couple new ones. She stopped for a couple days, but now is right back to doing the same thing. I'm not real sure how to handle the situation. I don't have the heart to try to "teach her a lesson" by not filling her food bowl. I've been only putting a little bit in it at a time, but she will just empty whatever I put in there.

Yoshi does something like this occasionally. When he does it, it usually takes the form of pulling my hair. He will be on my shoulder, everything just fine, sometimes even gently preening my hair, then it's like something instantly pisses him off and he goes into attack mode for seemingly no reason! It's not very common, but it does happen.
Something else I've noticed, if he is in the mood that he wants left alone or is thinking of attacking, he will make weird motions with his head. He will turn his head sideways and rotate it all different directions.

Thanks guys, pretty much confirms what I already assumed. Guess I'll be packing the tools up and taking them to a friends house to do my work!

I've always liked to tinker with electronics, but since I got the birds I've left the soldering iron alone and stuck with breadboards. I'm planning a Raspberry Pi project that, due to size restrictions and the fact it's going to be a more permanent project, I need to pull out the soldering iron.
I'm struggling to find any information on the interwebs on whether or not this is a safe activity to perform in the vicinity of our feathered friends. Anyone here have any experience and or advice in this area?
Thanks in advance!

Oh Zim, hope you are recovering OK. Sorry to hear you've been unwell. Thanks. I had to have my gallbladder removed. Everything went well, I'm just really really sore now!

It has gotten chilly lately here in Illinois, hasn't it?! It almost feels like we skipped that "nice" fall weather (at least down here in southern Illinois). Went straight from fairly warm to very chilly.
I understand what you're saying about the birds don't like to be awakened early! Yesterday morning I had to get them up at 4:30 AM, otherwise they would have been covered and in the dark all day (and possibly through the night and next day, if they had decided to keep me overnight after my surgery). Neither of them wanted to come out of their happy hut, and just kept staring at me like "what the hell?!". After I got home yesterday evening, Yoshi was mad at me and wouldn't come out of his cage for about 10 minutes. He finally came around, tho.

It looks much better this morning. I guess he cleaned it last night before he went to sleep. Will continue to keep an eye on it I guess, and hope all is good.
