Oh goodness, I'm so sorry I didn't see these more recent posts until now! Hmm...40 miles is a really long way from home! I would say that it "could" happen... A couple years ago a friend of ours called and said that while he and his girlfriend were having a picnic at a lake a "parakeet" landed on their towel and "Can you take it?" They brought it over and its head was sticking out of a towel. Zach and I looked at each other and said "That's not a parakeet! That's a Senegal Parrot! Hmm....we don't really have a cage big enough for it, but it should be okay while we try to find the owners and if we can't find the owners we'll get a bigger cage." A couple days later our friend was at a place that seems a long way away (I just looked on Google, and it's only about 4 miles as the crow flies...about 15 miles to drive) and saw a "missing bird" flyer, and called us. We called the number and the guy identified the bird so we reunited them after two months of seperation. It was really great.

I do that with Taz, and he flies to my head. Maybe we could put a perch in front of Pico's cage that he could jump on....his wings are clipped. That might work. Thank you!

Oh, good! I'm glad the flu is almost gone, that will make it easier for the rest of you to heal. Oh my, yes I was VERY happy with Cami's x-ray results! (I'll write a post in Cami's thread to explain why she had an x-ray.) She really does mean the world to me, she's quite a horse.

As soon as Pico is out, he is the sweetest little guy. It's just getting him out that is an issue...I won't even call it a problem, because it's not really. You just have to be willing to take some bites. If you don't handle them daily they really do turn into little monsters, and I'd like him to stay tame. LOL

Okay, I thought I was joking when I said that Pico is going to have a vocabulary as big as Chewy's....maybe not. I'm in the office and Pico is rattling off his repetoire and he added "Thank you!" to the rapidly growing list. So.....the list in it's entirety..... "Good night!" "I love you!" "Tickle tickle tickle!" "What happened?" "Good night!" "Pretty bird!" "Mmmmmm!" (when he gets a treat) "Hi bubba!" "Get you!" (as in "I'm gonna get you!") "Wherrre's Chewy? Peek-a-bird!" (Sometimes he'll just say "Wherrre's Chewy?" without the "Peek-a-bird!") LOL "Hi baby!" "*kiss* I love you!" "Taz Taz Taz Taz Taz Taz!" "Hi Pico!" "There you are!" "Whatcha doin?" "There you go!" I can't wait to hear what he'll surprise me with next!

Well, I certainly hope you didn't break things off just because Chico didn't like her! Chewy is the same way as Chico. When he was a baby I could handle him and play with him, but not now. He likes my company and will talk to me but I can't touch him. We just ignore the behavior and carry on as usual. I talk to him a lot during the day, and when Zach is home he gets to come out.

I can't believe how much he's talking. He doesn't really talk in context, except for "MMMM" (he says that when we give him a treat, and a lot when he's playing with his toys LOL) and when he ran over and said "Hi baby!", but he loves to show me how smart he is. I need some advice, though....what would you guys do? Pico is seriously a little monkey bird. He uses every inch of his 18x18" cage, climbing all over the bars, hanging from his toys, etc. We've considered bringing in the doves' old flight cage, which is huge. We know that he would use every inch of that, too....but would it make him harder to handle? Right now, he won't come out of his cage without a battle. LOL He runs to the door of his cage, but refuses to come out and when we put our hands in to have him step up he bites.

Okay......this bird is knocking my socks off!! He's in there yelling "Peek-a-bird!" and "*kiss* I love you!" and "Taz Taz Taz Taz Taz Taz!" Here's the explanation about the last one....I can't whistle, and Taz does this thing where he whistles the same note over and over again. So I said "Taz Taz Taz Taz Taz Taz!" along with his whistles. Well, Chewy repeats just about everything I say, so he picked up the "Taz Taz Taz..." and Pico repeats everything Chewy says (or tries to) so....there you go. Edit at 7:21pm PST: Hmm.....well, little Pico is amazing me with a) how many words he says and b) how clear his voice is! I was just in talking to them, and when I came by his cage he ran over and said "Hi baby!" and then "Hi Pico!" and then he decided to impress me even more with "There you are!", "Whatcha doin?" and "There you go!" I had no clue that a Parrotlet would talk so much, and sound so clear. His vocabulary is going to be as big as Chewy's very soon, if it isn't already.

LOL Today I went over to say hi to the birds, and Pico came running over and said "Hi baby!" Now he's in there yelling "Tickle tickle tickle!" and "Whatcha doin?" and "Wherrrrre's Chewy?" (The other half of the last one is "Peek-a-bird!")"
