If that is the only difference in the ingredients I would think it is safe. I do question however... why the packaging would say "for small animals"... I would want only packaging that reads... for birds.

Hello... I must mention that your attire could have something to do with the Quaker being aggressive toward you. As an example.. most men around here wear caps... like ball caps. My Quaker Oscar hates all caps and hats. If my company removes their cap.. Oscar calms down.
Also... if you are wearing bright orange or yellow... these colors also upset some Quakers. A few Quakers also hate the color red... so that is something to consider. I am not allowed to wear bright orange or yellow and I am my Quakers best friend. He will not come to me if I am dressed that way and I can absolutely forget about wearing hats... lol.
My quaker is always nervous when other people come to the house. Even if they come every other day... he will still shriek. He does calm down over time... and when he does he will even let the company hold him.. just for a few seconds mind you... but he will.
Just giving you my thoughts.

I would like to add a few comments. I have had my Quaker for 7 years and he is 9 years old. I am basically his mate but there are times when I walk by his cage he will show the signs of aggression and have his mouth open ready to bite. So when your Quaker does this... it is not uncommon.
Shrieking for attention... yes...all the Quakers will do that. They want attention 24/7 but we give them what we can.
Standing on one leg is great. This is usually the sign of relaxing. Biting his nails is also good. They do this to keep them trim.
Rubbing the beak on the perches or anything else is also normal. They are just cleaning their beak or making it shine. The walking around in a figure 8 would be a concern of mine... and yes.. that would be a sign of boredom. Sleeping a lot ...well ... many times I think my Parrot is sleeping but he closes his eyes and just rests. My Quaker takes long naps in the morning and then again around dinner time. My Quaker is never in his cage so you can see that many of these instances that are bothering you... really shouldn't.
Too much food is not a good thing and that is easily changed. One bowl of 80% pellets and 20% seed is plenty. There should be a separate bowl for fresh fruits and vegetables and both bowls should be cleaned daily. Fresh water is a must and Quakers like to dip their food so the water should be in a bowl as well.
It sounds to me like the young man is not interested in having the Quaker as a friend and that is understandable at his age. What I am thinking is ... why don't you take the bird home with you? Having a one to one relationship would be good for the Quaker. I know at this time the quaker might not like you... but he will if you are patient with him... and fill his days with love and affection. Just a thought.
Hopefully things work out... keep us posted and good luck.

I have tried the millet seeds a few times with Oscar and he won't touch them at all. Like Bonnie he is scared of the spray so I did break them up... but he still won't touch them. Mostly what he wants is my food... lol

Oscar does the sneeze very well. He does not just sneeze ahhh choo... but goes... ahhh ahhh choo... (always two ahh ahh) and over and over again. It really sounds cute. I managed to tape the sound of him doing this on my cell phone. Now I can prove to people that he actually can talk... however.. I guess a sneeze really isn't talking. He also has the laugh like Shah... a little insane crackle. He will laugh when I laugh but I laugh so loud that no one can hear him... ha ha ha
Lately I am working on him saying "I am a Quaker Parrot"... I know other Quakers have said this.. and it sounds so cute I just got to get Oscar to say it to.

awww... that sad to hear. I wonder what happened that they did that? Maybe the parents knew they would not be healthy?
Good luck on the new batch.

My mother-in-law passed away yesterday at the wonderful old age of 92. For her it was a blessing as she had Alzheimers for 10 years and the last 8 were very difficult. We basically were in mourning for 8 years. She was at a manor at the time of her passing surrounded by her children and passed very peacefully. She raised 8 children. Life was very difficult at times.
A great woman she was... a second mother to me. We miss her very much and will always have her in our hearts.
As I sat here yesterday crying.. Oscar was on my shoulder and just sat there starring at me. He never preened me or anything. Just sat there starring. When I was done he licked the sides of my face by my eyes and when I turned my head a little more towards him... the little buggar pulled out my eyebrows... lol.
I will be away for at least a week. Take care one and all.

Oh wow... those are wonderful. A real talent for sure. I know my Quaker would scream at them and attack... but it would be quite funny. Excellent job.

Welcome for sure. My Quaker Oscar is 9 years old and he is still very protective of his food and water. It is best if they cannot get to you while you change them. Also for cleaning Oscar's cage... what I have noticed is that if I sing to him while cleaning the cage... he is distracted and won't attack me. He does love me very much... but when it comes to what is HIS... it is HIS... and we better not touch HIS stuff... lol.
I am allowed to hold Oscar on my hand and give him a handful of pellets. This he will eat like they are candy and I am allowed to have some of these too. I guess because it is on my hand and not in his food bowl.
Good luck.

p.s. We are not allowed to hug either or Oscar screams. My husband cannot even walk by me too closely and if Oscar is on my shoulder... I get bit... (guess I am suppose to know better lol). And like you we keep our talking down to a whisper if Oscar is in another room and we don't want him screaming at us. We are okay to talk if Oscar can see us... but not if he cannot.
What a life with Quakers... lol... gotta love these little guys.

I am not sure if they have the implant in Canada only because I have never asked or searched it up on the internet. My Oscar will scream when I leave the room however, if I call back ... his screams are less and less because he knows I am okay.
Oscar does not fly (even though he could) because he has been clipped since he was a baby. From conversations on here I know that a clipped bird is a lot different than those that are not clipped. I am his ride to anywhere he wants to go ... and if he bad he doesn't get to go anywhere. He knows not to poop on me or else he gets put down. He is quite a calm bird because I spoil him and give him almost everything he wants.
They say... adding another bird might be more trouble... but also... adding another bird means you won't have the same relationship you currently have with your Quaker. In your case I would really consider that. They would be so much into each other... they won't bother you as much. But will the noise level decrease?? Probably not if they both fly. They would be calling to each other constantly.
I believe Biteybird has given you the best advice. Look into the implant first... and then go from there. Best wishes.
