Hi guys, been extremely busy the last few months, so I haven't really been on here much. Sonic is doing great!!! He is up to at least 50 different words and phrases. My question is, how many words can he learn? In reality I would like to get him to stop learning new words... Bet you don't hear that very often. Lol, I just wondered what the largest vocabulary for a QP you guys had heard of? As always, thank you for your time.

Hmmm the largest vocabulary??? Well I only know what I have read and I only have one quaker. Oscar has about 50 words and phrases also however, he stops saying some things and picks up others constantly. When I first got him he had his favorite words but I no longer hear them... what I hear is ME... lol
Sorry... could not be of more help.

I haven't really tried to teach Sonic to talk. He was supposed to be a breeder. I was just trying to get him tamed down. I did try to teach him to whistle. After that, he started picking up words. He now, flies around looking for me if I leave the room. I'm really amazed how much he's learned just from observation. 500 words sounds amazing!

It's hard to imagine a 500 word vocabulary on one of these birds... Would be cool to experience that. The world record, however, is held by a budgie with a 1700 word vocabulary, apparently.
Cupcake does not say a word, although we have not really tried to encourage her to speak either. She just doesn't seem to care to speak, or is perhaps very shy about it. She makes some speech-like noises when she's in the shower sometimes, but only there.

Look on Facebook for "Disco the Parakeet." He can sing entire songs. If a budgie can do that, imagine what a Quaker could do if he wanted to.
