For two days now Oscar has decided he wants to talk... and boy does he talk. He starts in the morning after he has breakfast and he will sit in the kitchen watching the seagals and he will begin... He does many of the kissing sounds that I make... laughs like I do... and does his famous sneezes... ahhh ahhh ahhhh ahcoooo. and again... ahh ahh ahh ahhcoooo. He will repeat this at least five times and you cannot help but smile when he does it.
After lunch I usually relax on the couch for an hour and hubby will do the same on the other couch. Oscar heads for the kitchen and starts all over. But this time he gets more fancy... he will say... WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? It is not ready yet. Not ready yet. He does all sorts of mommie ... maaa maaa... mamamamamamaa.... bye bye mommie... I will be right back.... and again... I will be right back. So many various bird calls and whistles and tons of kisses. He was saying... tickle tickle.... baby boy.... tickle tickle.
I forgot to mention that before he starts talking he likes to attack his leg. It looks like he is actually going to hurt himself but he never does. I guess this is just part of the warm up.
Today we got a few more words from him... like Oscar - Mommie--- nee neee neeeeeeeee. (the end is suppose to be "I love you" but he hasn't got it down pat yet) lol lol.
What fun it has been to hear all this. It has been months since we heard him talk and with both us near him... that is exceptional.
Quite the little character.

Haha that's great! What a cutie pie. That's so cool.
I've seen that leg attacking thing in Cupcake. Interestingly she doesn't do it any more from what I can tell... but for years she did it while being particularly vocal. It made me nervous, but never seemed to actually pose a theat.

What a fun little guy! Peppy mostly scolds when he talks to me, but he is more responsive to my husband.

That is super cute! Bonnie nibbles her leg and foot when she feels happy and comfortable, so maybe Oscar feels good when he does it (?). Bonnie is going through a phase of not talking as much as she did, but when she thinks nobody is listening she does run through her repertoire of known words. She has trouble with "I love you" as well, and it comes out as a kind of hissing noise accompanying the words when I'm saying them. I'm glad he's decided to please you with words again.

Julianna, that is wonderful news about Oscar. Sharon, it is amazing what they pick up - you have to watch what you say when they are near. I have stopped swearing when Shah is with me or in his cage listening. He picked up all sorts of things but he no longer says them - thank goodness. Although I do hear an occasional "shut up" when Pippin is driving him crazy.

I always think that something has changed that makes him talk (as he did again today). Other than the weather... which we are in fall now... and it snowed the other day. He screamed murder at those snow flakes lol lol. He has a lot of pin feathers ... poor little guy... so maybe all these things together has got him "in the mood". I hope it stays for a while longer... sure does make my day.

I am really enjoying this thread. Chuckie picked up a word from my Mother's telephone calls. It is people. When she was not happy after a call, che would say "people, people". Chuck cannot manage the 'p' sound, so when he is stomping around his house angry at someone (me!) or something (toys?) I hear "eople, eople, eople". I have also seen a strange foot raising behavior; sometimes when I say hello to him, he will lift his leg, start nibbling at his toes and claws, then he will tilt his head in a posture that seems to emulate a person wondering about something or trying to say something and the words just won't come out. I ask him what he wants, he just looks intently at me, then turns tail and goes on to some other activity. I break up with laughter - I wish I knew what was going through his brain when he does this. Such a delightful (at times) little fellow.

Your post reminded me of something, Bruce. When Mr P is saying "right" or "that's right" (he says them both) he nods his head up and down like a human does. Pretty comical

One of my favorite actions is when Oscar does the bow.... When I am giving him something he really enjoys to eat... he will bow his head really low as if to say Thank You. Once he gets his food, he will let out a squak... and that is usually his real "thank you". It is so cute to watch. Chuckie reminded me of this when you said he tilts his head... Makes me smile every time.
