I tried Googling this, but mostly got cute pics of Quakers yawning Chester yawns a lot - is that something that Quakers just do? It's when we're interacting and chatting with him - he just starts yawning. I wonder if he needs a nap in his cage? He never seems to sleep when out on his play stand, so maybe we're keeping him out too long at a time? I was just curious - the cockatiels don't yawn like he does.

Does he get a good ten to 12 hours of quality bed time every night, in a quiet location? Longer is better. I've never noticed my Quaker yawning, though my CAG does occasionally. Always makes me start. In fact, I can't even type the word without doing it.

Lol yes I start yawning too! He goes to bed in my daughter's bedroom around 8pm (lights off, shades drawn), then gets let out when she wakes up. She isn't coming in & out of the bedroom disturbing him - normally she will grab her PJs when she puts him to bed so he doesn't get woken up over & over. Normally she'll sleep until about 10, but he tries waking her up before that by banging his toys on the cage lol. He just seems like he needs a nap a lot of the time. He's talkative & playful, and eats etc, so not sure why he does this.

I've been trying to watch it more, and am noticing it's when I talk to him, or he's talking to me - he'll yawn a few times.

Well, I really doubt that you're boring to him! Maybe he's demonstrating how very comfortable he is.

Bonnie yawns quite often, sometimes even while I am holding her in my fist and swinging her around. It looks cute and I think it indicates she is comfortable. Mind you, her cage is right next to the TV and it is winter in Aus at the moment, which means it starts to get light at 7am and starts to get dark before 6pm. She normally gets covered up by 8pm at the latest and is awake about 7am.
