I used to be active on this site, but haven't been for several years now.
I've got a blue Quaker Parrot named Zoey. She is an aggressive bird, always has been and has gotten worse with age (8 years old). We got her as a tiny baby from the breeder, and she apparently bonded with my son and she does not like anyone else, for the most part. I take care of her and have tried to be a good Mama, but it has been futile and I now lack the affection and desire to try any longer. She is technically my bird, I feed her, clean her cage, talk with her, etc., however she hates me and bites me whenever she has the chance; yesterday she drew blood, again, because I failed to move out of the way fast enough. When I told my son a couple of years ago when he moved out on his own, that I was planning to re-home her, he asked me to please keep her for him until he is able to purchase his own home, which is supposed to be right now. In the last several months, his life has changed course and he will be moving closer to home again soon and out of an apartment, but unless he is able to rent a house until he buys one, Zoey will need to stay here. Thankfully, he does plan to find a house to rent and she can then move in with him.
Anyway...the issue at hand is that Zoey has been sitting on her favorite upper perch with her rear end up in the air. I can't recall that she has ever done this before...perhaps she did through the years, but I've really noticed the last couple of days she has been doing it constantly when sitting on her upper perch. She usually sits with her tail down as she dozes, preens herself or has a screeching session, so this is unusual. Does anyone know if it means anything specific? I'm thinking she may be feeling hormonal and is "inviting" a male to mate with her, but just want to make sure this is what that type of thing looks like. Otherwise, her behavior is as always, there are no signs of illness or listlessness, etc.
Thanks!
