This may be Jade's method of "special time" since I never catch her doing it otherwise and the others are all such shameless hussies that I know their methods, but she'll sit on her door, which lets down like a porch, back up to the bars and prop one wing open so it's an an odd angle (looks odd to me, anyway), and then preen her feet and scratch her head and go about her business, but with this wing stuck against the bars. Nothing's wrong with it. She flies just fine. It's not injured in any way. She's been doing this for three or four days now for 15 or so minutes at a time. She doesn't rub up and down or do any of the things the others do and she definitely isn't vocal as Clyde is when he's having HIS shameless hussy time. Everybody in the house knows what Clyde's doing. LOL

That's a new one. Bonnie sometimes presses her head and eye/s against the bars and hooks her beak over a perch when I poke my finger in to give her a scratch (she's had to stay in the cage more recently).

I not sure I'm picturing Jade correctly. Is her wing in between the bars? Sounds odd, whatever it is. Do you think she might be balancing herself?

It's not between the bars. She's backed up so the bar on the edge of the opening is behind her shoulder and holding her wing open and kind of wedged against this bar. Maybe she is balancing, because she does this when she's preening her feet, but she also balances just fine without it. My chair is next to Maggie's cage, and Jade flies over and sits on top of Maggie's door, which has very narrow bars (it's actually a dog kennel, not a bird cage) and she sits on top of that skinny little bar and balances just fine. Even on one foot. She has this thing where she lifts up one foot and pretends to regurge into it and bobs her head. It's sort of a Jade version of a gang sign. LOL Or a high five. I don't know, but she does it when she wants attention. And she can do it sitting on top of Maggie's door.

Ah, I can picture it now! Very odd. If it's a gang sign, I hope she sees you as a fellow member.

I THINK so. LOL I got a boing for Rocky 'Too and other than gnawing on it, he ignored it. So I gave it to Ringo Starling, who was terrified of it, and Ringo is not scared of much. So I took it to the Birdcage and hung it up with the other two boings there, in the hopes that the others would have a boing to sit on, too. Clyde tries to guard the other two and keep anybody else from using them except Benjy. Now Jade has claimed Boing 2, and Clyde doesn't like it, but allows it, since Boing 1 is nearest to my chair. So far, Clyde's the only one who has checked out Boing 3, but it's inconvenient for the treat dish and my chair so he doesn't sit on it much, and I am hoping the tiels, who really like boings except for Clyde's interference, will claim Boing 3. There was a hanging lamp on that hook which never got used, and the tiels liked to sit on it. I took it down when I hung up Boing 3. Jade spends nearly all her time on or in her cage, so I was glad to see she was willing to take over Boing 2.

He's a pistol. He was on Boing 1 on Sunday afternoon and Jade was on Maggie's door. I was talking to Jade and Clyde kept leaning down and lunging toward her, and she tilted her head and was trying to keep one eye on him while she was interacting with me at the same time. I tried telling Clyde to be nice and she wasn't interfering with his Mommy time -- he wasn't even sitting on me!
