I'm taking Bilbo to the vet at 1, because he's been throwing up and isn't interested in eating this morning...well, all he wants is grass and then he throws up. He started this on Tuesday morning, when he woke us up at 6am, crying. He'd thrown up a bit of acid, but that's nothing new for him; he has a sensitive stomach. He ate his breakfast and dinner just fine on Tuesday. He did the same thing yesterday, ate his breakfast and dinner no problem. Today he won't eat his breakfast but constantly cries to go outside and eat grass, he pottied in the house, and has thrown up at least five times, inside and outside. Poor baby.

Bilbo is still at the vet, they're giving him IV fluids and taking two more X-rays, to see if things are passing through normally. His first x-rays showed that he had a lot of gas, and the vet said she thought she saw something abnormal, but wasn't sure...she's going to send the pictures to a radiologist for their opinion.
We'll see. Zach and I will go pick him up in about an hour.

We're home, and have to take him back in the morning for a recheck. If he vomits at all tonight we have to take him to the emergency vet.

Bilbo seems better this morning. No crying, no throw up. He has a follow up appointment with the vet in 45 minutes... Hopefully she'll take the IV catheter out and give him a clean bill of health.

Poor Bilbo! Could he have been upset at your absence? Will the vet have the X-ray results today? You probably should have trained to be a vet.

Sigh....the X-ray was inconclusive (the radiologist couldn't say for sure if there's an obstruction or not). So. I had to leave him again, and they're doing blood work and an ultrasound of his upper GI tract.
Dr. Lucas is a wonderful vet (Bilbo's usual vet, the doctor he saw yesterday was new to us) and said that this is what she would do if Bilbo was hers.
Please pray that the ultrasound is clear and Bilbo won't need surgery, and that the blood work is normal and he doesn't have pancreantitis or something.
He also has a growth on his gums, and she wanted the blood work in preparation to do surgery to remove that.

A bit of good news...it's not an obstruction, so he doesn't need surgery!!! YAY!
The blood work results aren't back yet. Since he doesn't have an obstruction, they'll feed him and give him some water and see how he does. We're not out of the woods yet, but I'm so relieved!!

Wow, there's a lot going on here! Never a dull moment for you, is there, Dani? Sheesh. Very glad to hear that there is no obstruction for Bilbo, though!

Bilbo is home; the ultrasound didn't show anything, and the blood work came back normal. So, he's on Pepsid to reduce acid in his belly, and I think we'll be switching him to a raw diet.

Emma has pancreatitis and I now have her on a special diet. More cooking!!!! The damn animals eat better than I do. You can google the diet for pancreatitis but it is suitable for your dog even if he doesn't have it. I have been through 2 bouts of it with Emma - the first time was early hours of the morning and I thought she was going to die. Since then I have made sure I know where the emergency vet is, just in case. I hope Bilbo gets better soon. I am now off to heat up his lordship's dinner - he is on a special bean mix now for his night feed. I seem to live on cheese on toast these days
