My baby is sneezing or has a sinus problem. I started giving her sprouted grain bread and she has been sneezing alot. I don't know much about sinus problems either. Does anybody know anything about allergies to sprouted grain bread? Does anyone know how to treat a sinus problem? Does vitamin C help with that? I am going to try some oranges..Thanks for your response. I would appreciate your help...

It could be allergies of some kind, but it also could be respiratory infection. I would not experiment with vitamins, but would get her checked by a vet. That's really the only way you're going to figure out what is going on.

I agree with Easttex. Don't take any chances - go and see your vet.

It's possible to have allergic reactions to all sorts of things, and birds can have them as readily as humans. Occasional sneezing usually isn't a problem, but if a parrot is sneezing often, the it's best to visit the vet. A little bit of orange is OK, but isn't really likely to help stop the sneezing or correct whatever is causing it. There's really no safe and sure way to treat the sneezing without knowing exactly what's causing it.

I tried to switch the bread and I gave her vitamin C....and yes, vitamin C helps.... She doesn't have a respiratory infection, because she has had no problems other than the occasional sneezing and there is nothing coming out except for water. There was amaranth plant in her bread, so I got rid of it....maybe that will help. You don't have to go to the vet just because your parrot is sneezing. I put apple cider vinegar in her water because it treats allergies..so, it is going to help. Thanks for your comments, but you don't always have to go to the vet. You just have to find out what is causing the allergies. Have a good day!!!

No, you don't always need to take a bird to the vet with the slightest symptoms. You don't ever have to, really, and many people don't. I've had enough bad experiences that I am pretty conservative on that. Better safe than sorry. I do hope the acv and grapefruit juice work for your bird. Many people swear by acv. I've seen a lot of applications for grapefruit oil and seed extract, but have not heard that the juice is effective for allergies or infections. Aloe vera is great for their skin, and certainly doesn't hurt to ingest. It's my somewhat cynical opinion that if these things did everything their proponents claim for them, the pharmaceuticals would have cornered the market on them and made them astronomically expensive.

Well, baking soda cures infections and it is cheap and everyone knows about it...Turmeric is also a known cure for many ailments. I gave her both of those..just a little...and I swear by baking soda!!
