Hello!
I'm going to settle with the fact that I inherited this lil QP, her name is Bandit and she is 8 years old!
We get on great, had her a week and she steps up, flies to me, and even calls my name!
But I have a lab/border collie Service dog.. Yes, he's legit and does a million things for me and everything with me.
But poor Ford(dog) gets nervous when Bandit(QP) flies over his head. Along with how much I've been watching and tolerating this bird.. Ford doesn't like when I get hurt, he either protects me or goes and gets help...
So a mourning bird that was in a new place? You can guess the mayhem that ensued.
Most of the problem is how quickly Bandit took to me, within a week she went from mauling me and playing King-Kong on her cage, to grooming my hair and( if I would let her), my face.. Fords idea of cuddling is his head on my shoulder and my head over his... Which is exactly where Bandit sits.
Bandit seems like she's trying to make friends with him, he is at my side 24/7 so she sees him ALOT. But once Ford knows I can handle it, he dodges, even when she is trying to groom him whilst on his back.
One thing that makes me nervous is that I'm not sure how rough Bandit is being. My service dog has suffered kids as young as a year with me, and stood his ground and got jumped on so I wouldn't try to and wind up over doing it...
But I'm really just wondering if anyone else has had these two species together? And what helped(if anything you did helped) them get along a bit better?
I'm good with any (safe) training regime, I'm used to working them out and not giving in to the cute and cuddly looks since I train service dogs.
Except the one with the millet to teach them to step up, she simply mauled me! T^T
Thank you and I apologize for the length! ~~~Holly~~~
