You know this book I have states that in order to respond a little more directly to nips and such... to quickly dip the fingers of the hand the bird is sitting on and then return the hand to its former position. The bird will have stop the nip I order to regain balance. This movement creates a mimic of an earthquake and the bird will respond to it immediately.
Outside my house the road work is still ongoing and today they have the huge roller going and my entire house has been shaking since 9:00 a.m. this morning. Poor Oscar... I have held him and taken him for walks, and bathed him... anything to try and distract him from the shaking he has been feeling. He is not calling out... he is still building his nest... but I tell ya... some of the sounds make me jump... let alone my little one.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a little quieter. They will quit working in a few more minutes and I cannot wait... my whole body vibrates... geezzzz.

And I thought the roadworks in Melbourne were incessant...yours sound like they are on a whole new level. Poor Oscar (and you).

Ugh.. Construction noise and sensations are really the worst... Our apartment building has retail spaces on the floor below us, and there's always some new business coming in or renovations being done or something, and poor Cupcake sometimes has to deal with the strangest noises and bumps and shakes... sometimes for hours without us at home. I can tell it's been a really bad day when she seems totally frazzled when we get home from work. Poor little girl.

I'm dreading Monday. We're getting treated for termites (fortunately they have not gotten to our house yet, just some porch railings), but they will be drilling holes every 18 inches in the concrete porches. We have a lot of porches around the house, and that will be a lot of drilling. I don't know how upsetting that will be for my birds. I hope today is better for you, Julianna.
