We're on a road trip to Central Australia at the moment. Bonnie has been pretty good, mostly. HOWEVER, around 3pm each day she starts this awful squawking (every second or two) and it can go on from 30-60 minutes. The other day I was contemplating the desperate, rasping nature of her attention-seeking cries. Suddenly the following lyrics sprang (seemingly unbidden) into my fractured brain:
[To the tune of "Unforgettable"]
Objectionable That's what you are And so audible From near or far
Like a chainsaw In my vicinity How the sound of you Unhinges me Never before Has someone been more...
Indefatigable In every way And for decades more That's how you'll stay
That's why, darling, It's incredible That someone so Noisily perpetual Thinks that I am Irrepressible, too.
It's hardly a masterpiece, but at least the couple of minutes' worth of mental exercise was better than covering my ears and yelling "la-la-la". Gary, I was stuck on the second last word - then I saw your recent post describing Shah. Thanks!

That's hysterical Good job Biteybird. I wonder what is going on in her mind for her to do that so regularly.

Wonderfully creative! Did you try singing it to her?

It's my first time there - can't believe it's taken so long to see this part of my own country. I have to spend longer next time. 2 weeks isn't enough... Easttex, I haven't sung Bonnie the song yet. Whenever I think of singing it she somehow knows and starts screeching (how unusual).

This morning Bonnie decided to nip me hard on the thumb while I was scratching her head (mind you, she was actually purring at the time). ( My brain was suddenly filled with the following lyrics [to the tune of "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" from the musical Oklahoma]: Oh what a beautiful birdie Oh what a beautiful beak I've got a beautiful bite mark Everything's gone up s*** creek. Sorry, my standard of lyrics seems to be slipping somewhat.

When she's being sweet do you spontaneously write love song lyrics? Or do you need to suffer to get your creative juices flowing?

The suffering appears necessary - otherwise I'm too complacent to bother. I did sing her this one and she seemed to enjoy it (probably her perverse sense of humour ).

LOL... Very good. I think for many songwriters (artists in general) creativity and suffering go hand in hand. Maybe she is trying to help facilitate your creative flow.

I should sing that to Clyde. His favorite thing is to demand scratches and bite me for giving them.
