It is so very strange with Oscar and rice. At one time he would get sooo excited when he knew rice was coming but now I am not allowed to say that word at all. If I do he will bite me right away.
Today I made rice and without saying the word... I gave Oscar a little from my lips... he gobbled it up. Later I tried to put some in my hand to let him eat it and he beat up my hand. I never said the word but still he was on the attack. So strange.
Something happened to him one time.... with rice.... and he never forgets. I think my mother did something wrong... perhaps teased him? I don't know and never will... but it just really makes me think... why rice? Never any other food.

I'm not sure their phobias/aversions are always that traceable. We try to reason it out but it doesn't seem to make sense sometimes. Is it just white rice? You probably know this, but I'd be careful letting him take food from your lips. Our saliva can be hazardous.

How odd I wish we could just have a conversation with these birds. It would be very helpful Cupcake loves rice. In fact, I think my parents gave her too much rice when she was at their house. They let their Cockatiel pig out on rice. I wonder if the influx of rice had something to do with her recent health problems. All that starch might feed the yeast quite effectively. Sorry, a bit off topic
