I have to take the 2 cockatiels and Shah to the vet tomorrow. My ears will, no doubt, fall off my head with the screaming and complaining in the car. I have got myself really stressed out about it. I have to be there at 8.30am and depending on whether Pippin has passed the blockage or not, depends on whether I do 2 trips taking 1 cockatiel and 1 quaker home and come back later to get Pippin. Just the thought of the noise in the car is really freaking me out as it really hurts my head listening to that pitch of screaming in a confined space. The drive should only take 15-20 minutes.

What I do when one of the birds is driving me crazy is I go up to the cage and whisper to them. They calm down immediately and listen.
If you don't mind whispering for 20 minutes....it could help.

Lots of luck to you! All that screaming isn't what I'm used to. Ralph quietly grumbles Quaker curse words when he rides in the car, and George always loved car trips, and would sing, laugh and bark the whole time. Maybe some chamomile tea before the trip? For you, that is; it probably wouldn't have much effect on the birds, under the circumstances.

Good luck Jan. That sounds intense. Phew. I'm going to try that whispering thing that Dani suggested. I haven't tried that before. Maybe that will work!

Whispering doesnt work on any of my birds. They just completely ignore me and continue screaming

Maybe being all together in the car will be enough of a novelty to keep them quiet for a while; long enough for you to relax and go to your happy place. And if the tea doesn't work, do you have any Valium on hand? For you, of course. We did actually have to give our mastiff Valium for his 6 hour roundtrips to his eye surgeon.
