I am thinking about getting a new dog. I have a Quaker Parrot, and Cockatiel. Is there a dog breed that is well suited to get along with them.

No dog or cat can be trusted with birds. You will need to supervise them but let me warn you, it only takes a split second for disaster to strike. I have a dog who appears to tolerate the birds but I never have the dog in the same room when the birds are loose. Plus she likes to chase the birds in the backyard so I don't trust her. Some of the people on this forum do have dogs that get along with birds and I am sure they will be along shortly to give their views.

We had a Tibetan mastiff who was very good with other animals. Boo Boo would actually lie still while a titmouse would pick out his hairs for her nest. Any of the flock guarding breeds might be good with birds. Most tend to be large dogs, though, and Boo Boo, at least, was very intelligent and independent (read: stubborn), and they just don't fit everyone's lifestyle. I'd stay away from terriers and hunting breeds.
It's still a crapshoot, because individual personality can override breed tendencies. Dogs are predators, and you never really know how they might react to a bird, especially in flight. I'm with Jan, and would never leave my birds and my dog out unsupervised. My Quaker has absolutely zero fear of my mixed breed dog, and will fly right to her and perch on her leg or tail if I allow it. Wanda knows she is not to harm him, but her wagging tail and her probing nose have a lot of force.

Even the most "trustworthy" of dogs (and I AM a dog lover!!) will go after a pet parrot at any given time, especially if they are in the same room together unsupervised.
While I am sure it is possible for one's bird and dog to co-habitate, I would never never never never trust a dog (any dog) to be in the same room with my bird, when the bird is loose, unsupervised.
A friend of mine had a terrible experience with her bird and dog that had a heartbreaking ending, and could've been avoided.

We have a Keeshond, and he is WONDERFUL. They have very little prey drive, and when one of the birds gets close to him he just sits and either watches or (more often) completely ignores it. What we're actually more worried about is one of the birds getting territorial of the couch and biting Bilbo. If that happened, Bilbo might get annoyed and bite back....so we keep a very close watch if Bilbo is out with the birds. You have to put the effort in to show any dog that the birds are not to be messed with. What we did when Bilbo was a puppy was cuddle the birds and give them kisses and said "This is OUR bird. We LOVE our Taz/Chewy/Arnie. I hope this helps. One website that REALLY helped us was www.dogbreedinfo.com.
