I will be bring home a hand fed baby around July1, and i realized that I have never had such a young bird before. I can not wait, but I am not at all sure what to expect. I assume he will not be able to fly, but do i need to worry about him falling, etc.?
Should he have a smaller cage for a while? His will be a nice 18" x 18" one with good play area on top, but do you think it will freak him out at that age?
All help will be appreciated!

Exactly how old will your new baby QP be when you bring him home in July? That will make a difference in how you'll need to prepare for him. Though I have no experience with parrots younger than 5 months old, there are people here who do, and will be able to offer some help.

If your baby is fully weaned before you bring him home, he probably will be able to fly. Assuming he's not real young, he should be able to perch and climb, etc., and the cage should be fine. If you're unsure about it, you can lower all the perches and bowls until you and he are more confident. Congratulations, by the way!

Before your little one comes home it would be wise to read many of the postings on this forum as they will give you a very good idea of what to expect with a quaker. They are sooooo much fun.
