So I can not, for the life of me, settle on a name for my wonderful little Quaker! It has gone from Lucky, to Buddy, to The Dude in a matter of a week. I have ultimately decided that each name I picked was not good enough, and so here I am. I want to name him something that befits an animal of his intelligence, since that is the feature I love most about psittacines. I'd like input from any fellow scholars, scientists, history buffs, nerds or geeks. Make it something profound. A famous scientific discovery, figure, or word that embodies the idea of knowledge. Right now, Hawking is at the top of my list, after my personal hero Stephen Hawking. Ideas?

Hmmm, Aristotle or Socrates. Isaac or Newt, Benjy or Franklin, the under-celebrated Dewey of Dewey decimal fame, Winston (Churchill). The last two were not scientists per se, but they were learned. Einstein has been way overdone with greys. That was fun.

A few more, if you haven't settled on one yet: Copernicus, Sagan, Ptolemy, Nash, Bok (for body of knowledge). Or, for my personal science hero, some variation on Stephen Jay Gould.

I finally settled on Darwin. Or should I say, he settled on it! I gave him the choice between that or Hawking, and said several names each time for his judgement. I got three rounds of absolute silence for Hawking, and three rounds of resounding chirps and head bobs for Darwin, so I considered the matter closed, haha.

Darwin is great! I was going to suggest Dalai (I like the Dalai Llama), but you have made a great choice already.
