Sounds like she might be trying to lay an egg. But as long as she's eating and pooping regularly, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Are there any indications she is molting? Maybe she doesn't feel well if she's trying to get new feathers in.

I think she is too old to lay eggs. No, she is not molting. She is exhibiting symptoms of egg laying by attacking me when I put my hand in the cage

With a potential life span of 30+ years, I doubt that 15 is too old for a Quaker to lay eggs. The prime time for breeding may well be earlier, though. And it could be breeding related hormones even if there is no actual egg to lay. Is she doing anything like shredding paper? Is she behaving normally outside of the cage?

thanks for responding. She is shredding some but not a lot of paper. I think you may be correct with the hormone theory. Since she hasn't laid eggs in many, many years, I don't think she is about to do it now. I have 5 different species of birds in one room and don't let them out often as they are very territorial and attack each other.

Five different species! It must be interesting at your house. smile.png As LindeeV pointed out, if she's eating and pooping normally, it's probably nothing to be overly concerned about.
Maybe you already do this, but one thing I do to help control the hormone thing (my CAG is really prone to going into breeding mode), is to regulate their light, year-round. I use cage covers to, I hope, fool them into thinking there are around 12 hours of darkness in every day. Their sense of longer days is a big cue that it's that time of year. It's not foolproof, but I think it helps.

Just an update on Nibby. As of today, July 17, Nibby has laid 5 eggs. I guess she wasn't too old after all.

I'm glad she's okay and was just in laying mode.
