Shah was screaming when I got home this afternoon. He is pretty aggro at the moment and, like a fool, I let him out and was showing him his best friend, Diana, who was working in the garden. I didn't realise I had him so close to my face - he turned around and bit me on the nose and would not let go. It is still bleeding. There are 3 wounds and it is starting to bruise. It is right where my glasses sit. It hurts like heck. What a little stinker.

It finally stopped bleeding so I cleaned it up. 2 wounds are very superficial but the third isn't so good. He has taken a whole chunk of skin out plus it is now bruising and swelling. Such an attractive look to return to work tomorrow. But I have to laugh at my own stupidity for placing him close to my face knowing he was out of control.

OMG, Jan! We've never had this sort of bite from Bonnie (so far, ha-ha). I hope your nose recovers OK. Definitely the Parrot Police (AKA "RSPHS" - Royal Society for the Protection of Human Slaves) must become involved...

Jan, have you ever talked to your vet about medicating Shah? It's not something I'm in favor of, generally, but it does sound like you have tried everything else, and bites like those are hard to tolerate. (Like I need to tell you that!)

No, I would never medicate him. I accept him the way he is. He reminds me very much of Clyde - it is like they are brothers. That is why I am always watching his body language. What happened today was a result of my lack of attention. He wanted to go to bed early tonight which was a relief as he was beak bashing me. Obviously I have done something very wrong that he feels he needs to reprimand me. I really think he is bipolar

Good grief. That's really unfortunate. Sorry you have to deal with this Jan.
