I was putting birds to bed tonight, and I bent down to put Maggie in her cage, which is opposite Jade's, and Jade reached out and nipped me on my bottom. Not hard. She was just being mischievous. I said, "Jade!" and looked at her and she bobbed her head (Jade-ese for "ain't I cute?") and scurried into her cage and got in her happy hut. Who, me? I is innocent!!!!

Sorry but that made me laugh out loud. Your animals are certainly full of personality.

Serves you right for wearing leggings with a sunflower seed print! Perhaps you need the cage higher so you don't have to bend over as far.

I think that might have made me jump right out of my skin. Cheeky bird! So to speak.

Maggie has a large dog kennel for a cage and options for placement are somewhat limited. LOL It sits on an old coffee table that is sturdy enough to dance on, and Benjy's cage is on top of hers. She thinks Benjy's cage is her fort, and spends most of her time in there. It's the "if I fits, I sits" syndrome. His cage is small because he only sleeps in it and I took the big flight cage he used to share with Bonnie, when neither of them ever came out, and gave it to Ringo, who actually enjoys playing in her cage. Jade's door lets down into a sort of front porch and she likes to sit there, especially when she suspects there's some mischief she can get into from there.

I just love all the pets. I wish I would hear Oscar talk when I am playing with him or putting him to bed... or just doing anything together. He still only wants to talk if he thinks nobody is listening and then he will ramble forever.

He still only wants to talk if he thinks nobody is listening and then he will ramble forever. Have you tried rushing in and rewarding him when he gets going? It might help, if you can be standing by, but hidden, while he is chattering.

Yes I have tried that but I think it is really good advice and I will try more often. Usually when I rushed in he would immediately stop and scream instead. Using praise is one thing he does understand and it is a great training tool. Thanks
