My little quacker parrot flew away and I spent nearly 3 hours looking for her. I few her in a tree and waited for nearly 30 mins her to come down, I got my other quacker to try to attract her and still she didn't move. So I had my dad get a ladder. I climbed 30 feet into a tree and almost got her and then she flew away. Right as she flew a hawk grabbed her and they started to fight. She got away from the hawk and flew back to the tree. I finally got her and now she hasn't moved or even talked to the other bird since. This happened like 2 hours ago

How long will she be traumatized?

No telling, but she should be seen by a vet as soon as you can get her in. She might have injuries that are not obvious, and she may well be in shock, which can be quite serious. In the meantime, keep her warm and quiet. If you have a small cage, like a travel cage, I'd put her in that, and keep her mostly covered. Good luck with her. Please update when you know more about her condition.

Wow... that is quite a story. Glad she managed to get away from that hawk and get back to you. Like easttex said, it is hard to say exactly how long your bird will be traumatized or to what extent she has been hurt or distressed... Get her to an avian vet as soon as possible.

Sorry that your QP had such a horrible experience, but happy that she's home now, safe and sound. It may take a while before she will feel comfortable again, but you can help by showing her lots of love and assuring her that she's safe now. I agree with the other Forum members who suggested a vet visit to make sure there are no hidden injuries.

What a horrible experience :-(( As other forum members have said, keep her warm and quiet. Talk softly to her, don't make any changes to her cage/toys and taker her to the vet to get checked out. I wouldn't try to get her out of the cage for a little while either, as that's where she'll feel most secure. Give her time and a lot of love.

OMG... I would be traumatized as well as the bird if that was me. Wow... got away from a hawk... amazing. So lucky you were there. Talk softly to her and give her a little purrrr.... little a kitten. That is what they do when they are calm. Maybe it will help.
I think the reason the bird would not move out of the tree is because he knew there was a hawk near by.... just maybe.
