He stole some of my bread and I was wondering if that's ok for him?

Shah has a small crust of raisin toast every Sat and Sun. He loves it and goes quite feral until he gets it. I only have it on weekends so he knows if the sun is up, he will get that damn crust. He goes absolutely psycho when I put it in his cage - I am never sure if he is eating it or bashing it up. I would say as long as he stole a small piece, he should be okay. Problems arise with birds when they are eating large amounts of bread. Just keep an eye on him but sounds like he should be okay.

When Mr P sees the Hawaiian bread wrapper or sees me pull out a piece of it, he actually QUAKES, like a baby (or I guess that is what the quaking looks like) and regresses to the point where he shudders and shivers and bounces up and down on his perch, I have never seen him act like that over any other kind of treat

A little bit is okay. Whole grains are best. I give my birds a chunk of Harrison's bird bread every day. It has lots of good things in there and they love it.

We've never given Bonnie bread. Maybe we should though, it might stop her trying to steal it all the time.

Cupcake loves bread. I have noticed that it leads to a lot of crop adjusting motions when she eats it, so I tend to stick to little pieces as treats. But it is certainly ok to give them some bread here and there.

Mr P basically gets a *little* bite of everything we eat except for chocolate (I don't eat avocado so no worries there) He gets more of the healthier things and on Sunday, if we are having a regular dinner, he eats at the table, with us, out of his own little dish. If there are things he can't have that we are eating, he doesn't get them in his dish (although he will notice there are things on our plate that aren't in his dish and try to jack them off our plates)
This is natural flock behavior, birds eat with their flock members.
Almost everything in moderation is fine, as long as their regular diet consists of pellets, fresh fruits, veggies and whole grains. Obviously "human" food is not a replacement for a balanced birdie diet.
Mr P is also particularly fond of pizza. Last nite I had a friend over (also a bird person thankfully) and the 3 of us sat at the table and ate pizza. Mr P said yum after each bite (as usual) and was quite content to just listen to our conversation, with an occasional interjection of "That's right!", in between bites.

Sharyn, it was so nice to read your post this morning. Having Mr P at the table is a great idea. I will try it with Shah when I move next year as I want to make his life as interesting as I can after I move out of where I am now.

Cupcake loves to eat at the table with us, although because she at one point was showing symptoms of early kidney problems, I am careful to avoid giving her things that have much salt in them because birds don't handle salt like humans do. I also avoid cheese because it seems to make her crazy. So she has had to get used to not always eating what we are eating. But I will fix a plate for her and give her the things that she can have. She isn't always happy about it but that's just how it is.
