Photos of the project coming.... To make a quick, easy and inexpensive "birdy buddy", "cozy corner", or whatever you want to call it.... Buy a remnant of fleece or other fuzzy material at the fabric store, or recycle an old (clean!) sweater or sweatshirt. Fold into a triangle. Using a seam ripper, cut two small holes in the top of the triangle. Thread a piece of ribbon through the holes, fold to form a "cave" shape, and attach to the cage.

I came up with this because before we realized that Pico was blind, we bought him an enclosed type of happy hut and he wouldn't go in it. Since he often sleeps in the corner of his cage, I wanted to give him something that I could put there, that he can snuggle with...I knew that something like this exists, but could not remember what it was called and wanted to give him something right then.
This took me about three minutes to make.

Oh, Fab! I should make some for Bonnie and maybe for our friend's cocky, "Pretty Boy". Good job!

Peppy loves his cozy corner, the green one more than the yellow. I don't know if it is color preference or the fact that the green is in his night cage. If he ever wears it out I will try making a more personalized version for him. Thanks for the idea!

Rocky 'Too loves to stuff his big head under my arm or even into the neck of my shirt and I thought perhaps he'd like a happy hut, except they don't make them big enough for a giant snuggle bunny. Didn't somebody on the board post directions once on how to make your own? I could just enlarge it to fit him.

I got Shah a "buddy" years ago. Needless to say he was outraged that I put it in his cage and completely freaked out. The buddy now rests with all the other things that he has rejected and, believe me, it is a big pile.

Judging from what came with Peppy when I got him, he was not very spoiled, to the say the least. Maybe he has a bit of the impoverished parrot's appreciation for what he gets, or something, but so far he has not outright rejected anything. He hasn't used the swing I got him, but he doesn't object to it being in the cage. I lowered everything in both his cages today and he even just watched that. That surprised me, because he does find plenty of things to chastise me about.

There's a bird fair in a week in the next town and I'm going to go see if they have anything big enough for Rocky, and get Ringo and Jade and Clyde their birthday presents. Ringo is May 16, Clyde is May 19 and Jade is June 5. Jade and Ringo are the only ones whose ages I know for sure.

Could you buy a secondhand quilt and just cut it up and sew it? Just a thought.

I'm thinking a thick old towel, and maybe Hubby could cut a piece of plywood to make a floor for it. Rocky's kind of nervous about stepping onto things unless he knows they're sturdy enough to hold him -- he spent the first couple of weeks putting one foot on my arm and testing it before stepping up, but now he just climbs right on because he knows it'll hold still. A towel would be easily washed (and easy to shred, LOL) and we've got more than enough.

I made Chewy a happy hut. I'll move the instructions over from the old forum.
