Okay, I've found out I was wrong about my bird's gender. He's a cute little boy named Mojo. I know beak clicking or whatever it is called is normal, but whenever he is up on the top of his cage, he will reach his neck up as high as it can go, opening his mouth but no noise comes out. He does this often whenever he is up ontop if the cage. He also screams very high-pitched without reason.

Greetings to you and Mojo!
He could be doing a crop adjustment. It is normal for them to stretch their necks and beaks open, sometimes repeatedly, if there is something in their crop that they are trying to move.
When they scream, there is always a reason, although it may be a fairly birdly reason, and sometimes the reasons can be purely habitual, but you can generally still identify a trigger or scenario that is encouraging the behavior. Are you talking about the same noise you referred to in your other thread (contact call)? Or is it more shrill and guttural (alert/danger call)?
Cupcake will do alert/danger calls for a number of reasons... when people come to the door that she doesn't know, when she sees landscapers out the back window, if other birds land too close to the window... if somebody presents her with an object that is a color she doesn't like... if we don't give her enough eye contact and she is feeling slighted... it can happen for so many different reasons, and sometimes we can't figure it out, but usually we can.

I don't think it's either. I would be right next to him and he would scream. It could be the middle of the night and he'd scream. His scream isn't like a normal birdly scream though. It sounds more like a girl screaming noise. I don't know why he does it. He'll even do it when he's on my shoulder.

And what color are you wearing at the time? These little guys are very color sensitive... or if something changes... they do not take well to change... however,... they can adjust over time. If you want to introduce him to something new... you need to be patient and leave the item near by so he can see it... and adjust to it.
Welcome april... you found a great site for advice.

Sometimes they do it in ways that seem nonsensical. Cupcake uses this call as a greeting as well, and sometimes she'll greet things inappropriately. Sometimes she does it on my shoulder. Sometimes she does it and I have absolutely no idea why. Usually it's not the middle of the night, but it has certainly happened. It sounds like a girl screaming, but it's short, right? Like a quick scream.
